HHBC Student Ministry Summer Internship

Job Description & Responsibilities

A. Description

1. The Student Ministry Internship will be a part-time, short term position for the purpose of

assisting the Student Ministries Pastor with the planning and implementation of activities,

events, programs, and services in the Student Ministry of Hyland Heights Baptist Church.

2. The majority of the responsibilities of this position will be spelled out below with additional

responsibilities added per the needs of the Student Ministries Pastor and ministry.

3. The position will begin on Monday the second week ofMay and conclude on Friday the third

week of Augustlasting a total of 14 weeks. These dates do NOT include a week of vacation

and will be somewhat flexible based on thestudent’s schedule.

4. Time expectation will be a minimum of 14hours per week. Total of 200 hours minimum.

B. Responsibilities

1. Sunday mornings (8:30-10:30am) – Assist the Student Ministries Pastor in the various morning

activities as needed

a. Help with greeting, set-up & clean-up, and various other needs as designated

b. Assist in leading a small group (teaching lesson, building relationships, activities, contacts)

c. Build relationships with students mentoring them to move toward spiritually mature and

Christ honoring lives

2. Wednesday nights (4-9pm)

a. Assist in the services – greeting, announcements, games, set-up & clean-up, etc.

b. Help plan aspects of the services and assist in implementing these aspects

c. Secure the use of special facilities and equipment if necessary

d. Lock and unlock facilities when necessary

3. Weekly Office Work and Youth Staff Meeting

a. Help to plan, organize, and implement activities for the fall and winter

b. Prepare for Wednesday and Sunday services

c. Spend a minimum of 7 hours in the office each week helping with clerical or other work

d. Communicate with Student Ministries Pastor concerning the needs of students or ministry

4. Speaker fill-in

a. Prepare and present a message for Youth service. Include PP notes and student worksheet

b. Plan, organize and lead a special mission emphasis service based on interactive work

stations inviting students to engage with the Biblical text in a unique way

5. Activities and Events

a. Assist in the planning and implementation of the MS All-Nighter Event in June

b. Assist in the planning and implementation of the Student Ministry Mission Trip in July

c. Will be a leader for the Student Ministry summer camp in July

d. Assist in the planning and implementation of Local Missions Day in August

e. Help with summer events by setting up, tearing down and taking leadership

responsibilities during the events

f. Help plan and organize additional summer events and activities as directed

g. Help strategize and plan fall events
