The Excellence in Service Award recognizes and honors students, generally one in each of the three higher education sectors (state university system, Florida college system, independent colleges / universities) for outstanding service to Florida’s communities.

Please review this checklist PRIOR to starting your application.
All documents must be sent to FL|CC as one application packet.

Requirements Checklist:

  A completed application form.

  Personal Statement of service philosophy, ethic, experience and innovation.

  A 200 word print-ready bio summarizing qualifications for the awards (bio should not exceed 200 words).

  An essay in response to the four questions as dictated by the application (each response should not exceed 250 words).

  An essay detailing the alignment of student’s work with the mission and goals of Florida Campus Compact.

  Service Resume.

  Up to three letters of recommendation (with completed forms) from a campus administrator, faculty member, student, or community representative. One of these three letters should come from the President, Chief Academic Officer, or a Dean of your institution.

  Print-ready resume photo (jpeg format).

You may include news clippings, articles, photos, brochures, etc. to supplement your application. All photographs must be submitted in .jpeg format. Please include all materials in a single document, not exceeding 15 pages. All documents should be sent to FL|CC at one time, as one application packet.

STUDENT EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE AWARD

Recognition Information

Applicants will be rated for their personal impact in issue areas including how the nominee is expanding opportunities to serve; building the capacity of individuals, nonprofits, and communities; and encouraging innovative approaches to solving problems.

Winners will be featured at the Florida Campus Compact Annual Awards Gala on Thursday, November 17, 2016 in Tampa, Florida; applicants should hold the Gala date free on their calendars. All applicants will be notified of the application status on or about September 1, 2016. All applications are rated by a team of out-of-state reviewers.

All applicants must be full-time students at a Florida Campus Compact member institution in good standing*.

Application materials (compiled into a single document) must be received by June 10, 2016.

The essay should describe the student’s contribution to service and community outreach and empowerment as addressed by the following:

a.  In what ways are you involved with your campus volunteer or service-learning office? (response should not exceed 250 words)

b.  Is your service a requirement for a membership organization or class? If so, do you serve beyond the required hours? (response should not exceed 250 words)

c.  Please list any service-learning classes you have taken. Explain the course related service and its value to the community. (response should not exceed 250 words)

d.  Are you a federal work study student in a community service placement? (response should not exceed 250 words)

  An essay detailing the alignment of student’s work with the mission and goals of Florida Campus Compact.

  Service Resume.
