Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) Prevention Programs

Job Description:

The Office of Student Success Programs is currently seeking a highly motivatedundergraduate student to work in the AODA Prevention Program. The Student Community Organizer (SCO) position is highly collaborative, working closely with NDSU’s students and student organizations on initiatives to reduce high risk alcohol and other drug use at NDSU. SCO’s gain valuable professional experience and develop relevant skills through promoting student success at NDSU.

Responsibilities can include:

  • Work collaboratively with AODA Prevention staff to deliver and facilitate prevention trainings and/or discussions to a variety of NDSU community members
  • Help plan and promote outreach opportunities for AODA Prevention media campaigns, such as the Before One More campaign.
  • Provideadministrative support forthe Student Advisory Committee for Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Further thereach of theAODA Preventionprogram through social media
  • Serve as an active member of the President’s Council on Alcohol & Other Drugs
  • Assist with administering surveys and conducting other alcohol-related research
  • Provide general support, as needed, to the Student Success Programs department and AODA Prevention Program.

Qualifications*:

In order to be considered a qualified candidate for the position, the candidate must have:

  • A desire to educate oneself and peers about high-risk alcoholand other drug choices
  • Student leadership experience
  • Evidence of excellent written, interpersonal and public communication skills
  • Knowledge of the NDSU community
  • Proficient skills using basic PC applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5

*Preference will be given to students who have more than one semester remaining at NDSU, as it is hoped that the successful candidate will work for at least one academic year.

Compensation:

The hours are very flexible and vary between 8-12 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be necessary as events are planned. Starting salaryis $9.00 per hour, with the opportunity for increases based on successful job performance. The position will start in August 2016.
