WDAStudentChapterGuidelines

OBJECTIVES–TheobjectivesoftheWDAStudentChaptersarebasedonthemissionofWDA,“Ourmissionistoacquire,disseminate,andapplyknowledgeofthehealthanddiseasesofwildanimalsinrelationtotheirbiology,conservation,andinteractionswithhumananddomesticanimals.”Morespecifically,StudentChaptersshouldaimto:

•Educatestudentsinterestedinwildlifehealthanddiseaseaboutcareeroptions,job qualificationsandeducation,externships,volunteer,andresearchopportunities

•Enhanceskillsofstudentsinterestedinwildlifehealthanddiseasethroughlectures, workshops,conferences,orfieldtrips

•ConnectstudentsinterestedinwildlifehealthanddiseasetomentorsinWDAandtheprofessionthroughthefacultyadvisorandguestlecturers

FACULTYADVISOR–eachchaptermusthaveafacultyadvisorwhoisacurrentWDAmember

OFFICERS–officersareselectedbymembersofthechapterandmustbeStudentMembersofWDA

MEMBERSHIP–studentchaptersarecomposedofundergraduate,graduate,andprofessionalstudentsinterestedinthefieldofwildlifediseaseandhealth.WDAmembershipisnotaprerequisiteformembershipinaWDAStudentChapter.

DUES–theduesstructureofeachstudentchapterisdeterminedbythatchapter.RevenuefromduesistobespentbythechapterinkeepingwiththeobjectivesofStudentChaptersofWDA.

REPORTSTOWDA–reporttemplatesareavailableontheStudentsectionoftheWDAwebsiteandaretobecompletedandemailedtotheExecutiveManagerofWDAandStudentRepresentative.

•CreationofaStudentChapterofWDAandOfficerInformationUpdateForm–DueSept30ofeachyear;Forcreationofanewstudentchapterorupdateofcontactinformationforthefacultyadvisorandofficersofestablishedstudentchapters

•StudentChapterProgressReport–DueApril30ofeachyear;AllchaptersmustsubmitanannualprogressreporttomaintainstatusasanofficialstudentchapterofWDA.ThesereportsmaybepostedontheWDAwebsiteorintheJWDsupplement.

•FinancialReport–DueApril30ofeachyear;AllchaptersthatreceivedaWDAchaptergrantmustsubmitafinancialreportthatdescribeshowWDAfundswerespent.
