Rising Hope

Street Ministry
Volunteer Application

Our Mission

Our mission is to do the loving work of rebuilding and restoring men and women to their true purpose and identity in Jesus Christ. We address the immediate and long-term needs of homelessness through hunger-relief, authentic community, friendship, and care so that others can experience the joy of salvation and a purposeful life of discipleship.

Our Values

Honor:

We honor others, regardless of background or history, by restoring to them dignity and value in who they are in Christ, empowering the individuals we serve. We celebrate every triumph, and provide support and encouragement in every temptation and trial.

Integrity:

As servants and leaders, we want to model the life of an authentic follower of Christ by practicing what we preach, exemplifying the joys of living God-honoring lives and the fulfilling pleasures of obedience to Christ and the Word of God in our own personal lives.

Wisdom:

We want to wisely steward the resources given to us by understanding that when our limitations are physically and spiritual reached, that we will trust God to encounter the individual in His own ways and in His own timing when we are unable to meet those needs.

Volunteer and Leadership Overview

Thank you for your interest in serving with Rising Hope Street Ministry! Filling out this application is the first step in the process to becoming a volunteer or leader with RHSM. All leadership decisions (e.g. appointing/removing leaders, ministry expansion, programs) will be decided based upon our mission and vision statements. So as long as you believe in our mission, statement of beliefs, and operate within the fundamental values of honor, integrity, and wisdom, you have nothing to worry about! We believe that how we succeed in this ministry depends primarily on discipleship, which means that all leaders and servants must be discipled by a leader of Rising Hope. What this looks like as a servant or leader of Rising Hope, is that you are granting a leader permission to pour wisdom into your life, act as a spiritual authority during ministry events, and further you along in your walk with Christ(John 13:15, Hebrews 13:17, 2 Timothy 2:2, 3:16-17,Titus 2:1-8). For your own spiritual and physical safety, as well as the safety of those whom you will minister to, your spiritual leader will keep you accountable while we are out ministering, offer feedback, and encourage you to make the right choices that will benefit your experience with RHSM. This only applies during ministry events such as Friday night street ministry, but we highly encourage you to maintain your discipleship relationships outside of ministry events as well!

Rising Hope is a Ministry of Envision Mission.
At Rising Hope, we believe the following:

  1. The scriptures, both Old and New Testament, are the inspired (God-breathed) Word of God, without error in the original writings. The Bible is the complete revelation of God's will for the salvation of mankind and the divine and final authority for Christian faith and life.
  2. There is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing as three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  3. Jesus Christ is both truly God and truly man having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross, once for all, as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Furthermore, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of God the Father, He is now our High Priest and Advocate (pleader of our cause).
  4. The ministry of the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Truth) is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict and regenerate sinners in salvation. He indwells, seals, guides, instructs and empowers believers in sanctification for godly living and service.
  5. Man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost. That is, all human beings are born with a sinful nature which is revealed in thought, word and deed
  6. The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only grounds for justification (righteousness in the eyes of God) and salvation for all who believe. Only those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God.
  7. Water baptism (portraying the believer's union with Christ in death and resurrection) and Communion (commemorating Christ's death until He returns) are ordinances to be observed during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as a means of salvation.
  8. The true Church is composed of all believers who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated (given a new life) by the Holy Spirit. The Church is the Body of Christ, of which He is the Head; she is the Bride and He is the Bridegroom. It is her responsibility to testify to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in word and deed.
  9. Our Lord Jesus Christ will return bodily. This "Blessed Hope" has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of every believer
  10. The dead will be bodily resurrected as Christ was; the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; of the unbeliever to everlasting conscious separation from God.

Are you in agreement with these beliefs? □ Yes □ No
