JOB TITLE: / SERVICE DELIVERY OFFICER (DRIVING)

MAIN FUNCTIONS:
·  To drive trains to schedule and shunt trains in accordance with the Subway Rules & Regulations.
·  To obey all applicable signals, observe the ATO equipment and take the appropriate actions when failures or emergencies occur.
·  To deliver passenger and staff information.
JOB ACTIVITIES:
1.  To report for duty punctually and uplift and check the contents of the equipment bag.
2.  To comply with the Subway Rules & Regulations.
3.  To carry out pre-start checks and in service security checks as required.
4.  To drive trains consistent with their duties and training.
5.  To maintain schedules as per timetable.
6.  To carry out instructions from Team Leaders, Assistant Team Leaders and Control Staff.
7.  To carry out breakdown and emergency procedures including train and station evacuations as necessary.
8.  To operate communications systems as necessary.
9.  To carry out train close down checks.
10.  To report defective trains and line side equipment failures and train presentation issues.
11.  To return equipment on completion of duty.
12.  To drive battery locomotives and associated vehicles, (rail wagons, compressor wagons, etc), as required.
13.  To liaise with the lookout person and work in accordance with engineer’s instructions as required.
14.  To drive trains to and from auto/manual wash roads.
15.  To assist in staffing and training programmes and to take part in refresher training as required.

JOB ACTIVITIES (CONT’D):
16.  To carry out yard shunting duties as required complying with the instructions of the Control and Assistant Team Leader (Control).
17.  To drive test trains in accordance with the engineer’s requirements.
18.  Under the supervision and guidance of the Assistant Team Leader (Control) and Control to be involved in the following:
- Monitor and operate visual monitoring equipment
- Communication with the emergency services.
-  Logging and passing on appropriate information to staff.
19.  Maintain the necessary competencies, and undertake as required, alternative roles within the flexible working arrangement.
20.  To carry out such other duties as may be considered reasonable within the scope of the post.
21. To assist in day to day light cleaning activities ensuring a high standard of general presentation of Subway assets to include litter picking of all public areas, light cleaning of workstation area and remove any debris which would cause a risk to health and safety and render safe, or notify other staff as appropriate.
22. To maintain vigilance and adhere to the Subway Security Programme.
23. Ensure awareness of all current notices and instructions.
24. To be responsible of custodianship for airwave hand held equipment and report loss of this equipment immediately.
25. To ensure the regular effective and concise communications to passengers, using the PA system.
Responsibilities
To carry out all duties safely and efficiently and in a customer focused manner. To maintain competence by progress through the Competence Management Programme. Accommodate the introduction and implementation of new technology and equipment.
NB: The role of Driving will be re-deployed at management’s discretion to undertake the role and duties of Service Delivery Officer (Stations) as and when required. This aspect of flexibility is covered within the agreement reached by the TGWU.
