Mission:

The purpose of LEADS is to promote leadership for excellence in education and to provide services and support to its members.

Vision:

LEADS, working through its members and with education and human service organizations, will provide leadership to facilitate enhanced outcomes in theacademic, personal, social, and spiritual development of allchildren and youth in Saskatchewan.

Values:

The LEADS organization believes that:

  1. members are advocates for all children and youth;
  1. there must be a strong commitment to leadership development and the acquiring of professional knowledge;
  1. the organization and its members shall act with integrity;
  1. collaboration with partners in education and other human service agencies is essential;
  1. members support each other through collegiality, mentorship and networking; and,
  1. there is need to provide support and service to its members.

STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS

A.Child and Youth Advocacy

Vision:LEADS will be an advocate for improved outcomes in the academic, personal, social and spiritual development of all children and youth of Saskatchewan.

Strategic Directions:

  1. To ensure child advocacy is central to all LEADS positions.
  2. To proactively identify opportunities to positively influence improved learning outcomes for children and youth.
  3. To provide leadership and advocacy in working with other organizationsproviding support to children and youth.
  4. To provide leadership in facilitating enhanced student outcomes by supporting and influencing the evolution of the Continuous Improvement Framework.
  1. Provincial Policy Development

Vision: LEADS will work proactively with Government to enhance LEADS voice in the development of provincial policy and practice to facilitate improved sector outcomes.

Strategic Directions:

  1. Establish bi-annual executive and quarterly executive committee meetings with the Deputy Minister’s Office to provide input into provincial policy developments.
  2. Engage LEADS role-alike groups in the production of position/discussion papers on provincial policy developments as appropriate.
  3. Strengthen linkages between the LEADS executive and member representatives on provincial policy development committees through improved reporting structures.
  1. Partnerships

Vision:L.E.A.D.S. will encourage collaboration among educational and human servicesagencies and organizations to advance sector outcomes.

Strategic Directions:

  1. To promote and sustain collaboration with educational partners on emergent educational matters.
  2. To support and participate in annual/bi-ennialinter-organizational forums.
  3. To facilitate/support educational research opportunities with post secondary organizations.
  4. To increase awareness and coordination ofsector management organizations(SSBA; SASBO) through the establishment of quarterly meetings.
  5. To identify possible synergies with educational partner organizations for joint professional development opportunities.
  1. Exemplars of Best Practice

Vision:L.E.A.D.S. and its members will be committed to roles as leaders of leaders, servants of leaders, professional advocates and stewards of public resources.

Strategic Directions:

  1. To promote continued understanding and application of the L.E.A.D.S. Leadership Paper.

2.To promote the implementation of the LEADS Leadership Accreditation Program.

3.To revise/develop Leadership Accreditation Program modules to ensure relevancy and currency.

4.To examine the merits of a Role of the CEO-Governance accreditation module to assist in succession planning for the role of director of education.

Vision:L.E.A.D.S. will demonstrate itscommitment to the principle of inclusionthrough its policies and practices.

Strategic Directions:

  1. To promote nondiscriminatory practices.
  2. To maintain policies and practices respecting differences and encouraging diversity.
  3. To be accessible to all members.
  4. To extend invitations for associate membership to all provincial First Nations Educational Authorities’ senior educational leaders.
  1. Member Support, Service and Development

VisionL.E.A.D.S. will provide support and service to its members in order to enable them to provide the best professional service to their divisions.

Strategic Directions:

  1. To enhance communication with members through biennial zone meetings, annual executive director attendance at role-alike meetings, distribution of LEADS information sheets and annual role-alike chair meetings with the executive.
  2. To redevelop the LEADS website to enhance user access.
  3. To enhance compensation trend reports with annual salary surveys and biennial benefits surveys.
  4. To establish a task group to review existing zone and role alike structures to make recommendations for future organizational structure and executive composition.
  5. To provide effective, supportive membership serviceswith special focus on supports to new members.

7.To determine level of interest in a more structured mentorship program for new members.

8.To provide information and advice on issues impacting the membership and/or individual members.
