Minutes of the Burial Board Meeting held on4thDecember2013 held in the Council Offices

Present: Colin Smalley (CS),Keith Cox (KC), Alun White (AW), Graham Golby (GG) Rev. Martin Short and Derek Magson

Apologies: Valerie Allen,

The minutes of the last meeting were read and agreed.

Minutes: CS proposed, CT seconded, all were in favour.
Matters arising from minutes: None
Ashes Wall: A copy of Alan Pinder’s drawing was been sent to a stone mason dealing with preformed stone. The estimate is between 15/16K. The committee need to speak to the mason to see if it is advisable to purchase all the stone plaques. Complaints have been received about the ashes area and something needs to be done. If the plot owners wish to leave the ashes in the plot it may be possible to incorporate the area within a walled section. Should the owners wish to transfer the remains to the interment wall the Council will need to obtain exhumation orders.
It was suggested that a PWL could be obtained to cover the cost of the build. MS suggested purchasing all the stones and removing them at time of engraving.
CS proposed paying a fee of £400 for his work on the drawings, CT seconded, all were in favour.
Shed in Churchyard: The Archdeacon has informed the PCC that if CDC have no problem with the Shed coming down then it should be removed. CT asked if diocesan money would be put towards it. The answer is no as the Town Council allowed the shed to deteriorate. Quotes will be sought for a possible rebuild.
Terms and Conditions: CT will speak to John Morris about progressing these.
Push Testing: GG will require a map of the new cemetery. Inspections have been carried out in the Millennium cemetery. Some of the memorials have been fixed to the basses with dowel. GG will record any monuments that need maintenance. DM will provide a map of the Churchyard.
Any Other Business: The Tree preservation officer has been unable to view the trees in the cemetery as yet.
The rubbish bin is proving successful; however some people are still leaving rubbish by the side of the bin and by the lockup.
The Next Meeting will be on February 12th in the Youth Centre.
