NOTES: Binoculars or spotting scopes are best for viewing wildlife. Refuge hours:Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge is open every day, all year. No offices are on the refuge.

Hunting: AllowedNorth of Division Rd during regulated seasons.Check updated maps and bulletins located throughout the refuge, or our website for current information. Vehicles allowed on designated roads;foot travel allowedanywhere.Possession or use of alcohol while hunting is prohibited on all National Wildlife Refuges.NO HUNTINGwithin 200yds north of Division Rd – this is a Retrieval Zone only, no loaded firearms.

Weapons:Rifles and pistols may be transported through the refuge, but may not be discharged. Shotguns(using non-toxic shot), muzzleloaders and bow/arrow are only allowed during state regulated hunting seasons, and only north of Division Rd. Target shooting is NOT ALLOWED on the refuge

Fishing:Not allowed at any unit of Stillwater NWRC.

Overnight stays: overnight parking is only allowed in two designated areas: Lead Lake Rdat Center Rd.and east Division at Nutgrass Rd. Restrooms are located at both sites.

Campfires:Campfires are not permitted anywhere on Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge. Wood cutting or collecting is not allowed without a Special Use Permit(contact refuge office).

Off-road vehicles: Only street legal vehicles are allowed on main public access roads.

Boating:Boating is not allowed in any wetland unit outside of waterfowl hunt season. During the Oct – Jan hunt season, boating is only allowed in open units N of Division Rd. Airboats need Special Use Permit.

Areas open for non-hunters:South of Division Rd:is a bird sanctuary, no huntingor boating allowed. Vehicles may travel only on Hunter Rd, East County Rd. andFoxtail Lakeauto tour route, plus marked Parking areas and pullouts. The sanctuary is open year-round.

Refuge tours:Guidedtours are available for groups, schools and organizations. Please call at least 3 weeks in advancefor reservations:775/423-5128.

Walking trails:3 self-guided walking trails are open year-roundin the sanctuary (see map):Millennium Moments at Stillwater Point;Foxtail Lake Boardwalk andPaiute Pathon the tour route;Tule Trailoff Hunter Road. Stay on trails/roads so as not to disturb wildlife. Most trails accessible with assistance to those with limited mobility.

Photo blinds: Thereare twophoto/observation blinds:atTule Trail, about ¾ mi S of the parking area off Hunter Rd; and west of the group shelter on Foxtail Lake Tour Route(see map). Your vehicle is best for wildlife observation on the refuge. Spotting scopes, binoculars or camerasimprove views. A 300mm or larger lens is suggested for early morning or late afternoonphotos.

Vehicles, Parking:Only registered street legal vehicles are allowed on designated access roads (see map). Please park in signed areas or on the road edge with two wheels on the road shoulder so as not to impede passing traffic.Vehicles are not allowed to travel off public roads.Speed limits are 25mph unless otherwise posted.

Pets: Pets are allowed but must be leashed and in your control at all times. Dogs are allowed N of Division Rd. during hunting seasons, but otherwise not allowed to chase/harass/injure wildlife anywhere within the refuge. Dog training and field trials are not permitted.

Other Activities – the following are not allowed:Littering; use or possession of illegal drugs; trapping, harming, harassing, injuring, or killing wildlife outside of regulated hunting seasons; driving off main roads.

Activities thatmay require a Special Use Permit: airboat use,collecting plants, minerals and artifacts; commercial guided tours, hunts,boat trips; filming or photography; selling to the public within refuge boundaries.
