Real Number System Clues
Clue 1: All the natural numbers need to be put into the 1st(smallest) circle. Use your definition of natural numbers from your note sheet.
Clue 2: There are some natural numbers that do not look like natural numbers, but if you divide them out they are a natural number. Put all of these numbers in the natural number circle.
Clue 3: There is only one number that looks like a natural number but is actually a whole number. Use your definition of whole numbers to find it and place it in the 2nd circle.
Clue 4: Put all of your integers into the 3rdcircle. Use the definition from your note sheet. Remember to watch out for those tricky numbers.
Clue 4: The last circle is the rational numbers. This set includes fractions, terminating decimals, repeating decimals, mixed numbers, integers and whole numbers. Any number that can be written in the form a/b is a rational number.
You will have one number that is left over. This is an irrational number and belongs in the triangle. What is it?
