Grading System: Students grades will determined as follows:

o  Essential Skills (30%)
o  Tests (30%)
o  Quizzes (10%) / o  Algebra Exams (10%)
o  Homework/Class work (15%)
o  Group Quizzes (5%)

In order to receive a passing grade in Advanced Geometry, students will need to earn at least a 70% and show mastery on all Essential Concepts (State Standards). Failure to show mastery on all concepts will result in a final grade of NC. Students will have multiple opportunities to achieve mastery on the essential skills throughout each semester.

Materials: Students will need the following:

·  a scientific calculator (students may borrow a calculator during class, but it will be very difficult to complete homework and other projects without a calculator)

·  a three-ring binder (at least 1 inch thick)

·  graph paper

·  pencils

These additional materials are optional: ruler, compass, colored pencils, pencil sharpener, highlighter.

Other Information: Advanced Geometry is a rigorous class in which students will be expected to work at a high level. There will be homework assigned every class, with few exceptions. Students will be expected to work in groups to complete activities and also will be using computer software to explore Geometric principles. Extra help is available before or after school, during Plus period and other times by appointment. Parent/ Teacher Communication can be made through email or voicemail. Email is the preferred method and response time is usually quicker than through a voicemail message. I am looking forward to a great year and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
