Statement: It is a privilege and an honor to represent you in the State Senate. My husband and I have raised five wonderful children in the Tri-Cities. We live here because this is a great place to live, work and play. I am deeply committed to our community and to being your voice in the Legislature. As a State Senator I have pushed for fiscal responsibility in state government. I won an award for my legislation that reduces regulatory burdens on small business, and introduced legislation to reduce utility rates in the Tri-Cities. My top priorities are to create and protect local jobs, fight higher taxes, support Hanford and the diversification of businesses, including bringing manufacturing to the Tri-Cities. Government regulations and high taxes are killing jobs in our local community. I will continue my efforts to eliminate and reduce regulatory burdens on small business, and I will fight against higher taxes. Our families have to live within their means, and so should the state. You can count on me to represent you in the State Legislature, and to protect your rights and freedoms granted under our Constitution. I would be honored to receive your vote.

Other Professional Experience: I began working asan attorney in private practice in Kennewick, Washington in1991. From 1992 to 1998 I worked atthePacific Northwest National Laboratory. From 1998 to 2001, I worked as general counsel fora start up companyin Richand I returned to private practice in 2001. I have also taught business law and finance at Washington State University, Tri-Cities.

Statement: For the past forty years the United States has seen a vast concentration of wealth into the hands of a very small portion of the population. The richest 0.1% of our country, a mere 16,000 families, now control more wealth than the bottom two thirds of American families. The heirs of Sam Walton alone control more wealth than 132 million Americans combined. This concentration of wealth and power has not been seen since the Guilded Age of the 1920s. It is the direct result of tax, labor and trade policies that have been put in place at the state and federal levels. With respect to continuation of these policies, there is a clear difference between the Democratic party and the Republican party. Democrats favor policies that would reverse this trend, such as raising the minimum wage or raising tax rates on millionaires. Republicans favor the opposite.
I am running for office because I believe that this concentration of wealth and power is not healthy for our society. I am asking for your vote to help me reverse the tax, labor and trade policies that have created this enormous concentration of wealth and power.
