Statement: Senator Steve Hobbs is a life-long resident of Snohomish County, an Iraq War veteran and a public servant who fights for good jobs, fiscal responsibility, and protecting our most vulnerable. In Olympia, Steve stands up for education, small business, aerospace, agriculture and a strong transportation infrastructure.

Steve understands the value of hard work. He enlisted in the Army as a Private and rose to the rank of Major. Steve applies this same work ethic to his job as our Senator, working tirelessly to help local businesses thrive by promoting innovation that fosters economic growth in our community.

Within the State Senate, Steve has established himself as a leading moderate voice, and understands that government doesn’t function properly when special interests and political ideologies are placed above the best interest of the people. Steve’s ability to work with Democrats and Republicans has earned him broad bipartisan support. Some of his recent accomplishments include the Association of Washington Business’ Cornerstone Award along with recent endorsements from the Snohomish County Labor Council, Firefighters, the Farm Bureau, several other local community groups and all local mayors.

Jim Kellett

Other Professional Experience: Financial Advisor for Edward Jones Investments with over 35 years of business management experience. Jim’s wife, Sharon, is an ER RN at Valley General Hospital and Rural Metro Ambulance. They have three children: Katherine employed by National Alliance for Public Charter Schools; Miles is training to be a police officer; Jordan, a graduate of the US Naval Academy, is training to be a Navy pilot.

Education: Attended University of Minnesota 1972-1978, Major: Biology

Community Service: President, Machias Ridge South Homeowners Association; President, Everett Rowing Association; Past President and Board Member, Everett Chorale Association; Former manager/coach, North Snohomish Little League.

Statement: Jim Kellett has spent his career creating jobs and helping others prepare for their financial future. To him, there’s nothing more rewarding than helping people turn their dreams into a reality. He has the experience to find sound solutions to complex problems. Jim believes working families in Snohomish County deserve access to a good-paying job, a quality education for their children, and an efficient transportation system. Jim Kellett understands the importance of a vibrant education system. While the incumbent voted to slash education funding, Jim will repair the damage and fully fund our schools. Jim believes we must build a world-class education system to help our kids prepare for rewarding careers that satisfy their financial and personal dreams.

Jim also strongly supports protecting a two-thirds vote requirement to raise taxes. He’ll work to ensure state government lives within its means and doesn’t unfairly burden working families. Politicians shouldn’t turn to taxpayers’ wallets whenever government spending gets out of control.
