The ACBT Transportation Committee has compiled this special directory with data collected from 14cities across Texas for the purpose of providing our ACBT membership with information on how and where to obtain certification to travel in other cities in Texas using paratransit service. This directory is intended to assist anyone with a disability who travels throughout Texasand needs to know how to arrange for paratransit service in other cities. Please provide any changes or updates you may be aware of.

What are the requirements for a visitor from another city who would like to schedule a ride with paratransit? Call (806) 378-3095 to schedule your trip then. Fax a copy of your paratransit identification card, mail a copy of your card or present it to the driver when you board the bus. Visitors may schedule trips for 21 days – after that, they must complete a Spec-Trans application.

What are the requirements for a visitor from another city? Request your local paratransit service to fax your name, telephone number and customer ID number to Capitol Metro at (512) 369-7779 to obtain a Temporary ID number.

You will be notified within 24 hours by their Access office of your eligibility. Once you have the Temporary ID number, you may make your reservation, no earlier than 3 days prior to the trip. Your first trip as a visitor is free. Subsequent trips must be paid for by ticket only. Your Temporary ID is valid for 21 days during the year. In order to use the service more than 21 days, you must complete an application.

Cost:Tickets only (no cash) Tickets may be purchased in booklets of 10 for $15.00 or an unlimited monthly pass for $40.

Call no later than one week before service is required. Once this is done, advance reservations can be made up to 2 days in advance, Saturday through Thursday, and up to 3 days in advance on Fridays.

Hours of service – Ordering/questions is 8 to 5 M-F, pickup and delivery service is 7 days a week, nominally 5am to 11pm, but not that late in areas where bus service ends before 11pm unless a van happens to be available.

For those on your list of frequently used addresses,, MetroLift has the MetroLift Automated Calling System, AKA MACS, or MACS WEB.

MetroLift fares are on a ticket or pass basis.The tickets are sold in sheets of ten and costs $9.75, A monthly pass cost $38.60 and a yearly pass cost $347 and is good for one year from the date of purchase. Monthly and yearly passes must be presented each time you use MetroLift. Riders without proper fare will not be transported.

Purchasing METROLift tickets, ticket books and monthly passes is simple and convenient for METROLift customers. METROLift fare items are currently available at more than 200 METROStops, including check-cashing locations and grocery store courtesy booths, at most Fiesta Marts, Foodaramas, Gerland’s, Foodtown, H-E-B Stores (6-HEB), Kroger Food Stores, Randall’s Food Markets and Sellers Brothers Food Markets - and one Foodland and Sak-N-Sav location. The driver is only supposed to wait five minutes past the pickup time, and you must be waiting at the curb twenty minutes prior to your scheduled pickup time.

Eligibility & Recertification Process

You must complete and submit a METROLift application for a certification of eligibility form to become certified to use METROLift services. It is important that the eligibility form is completed properly.

Please complete your personal information on the METROLift eligibility form, including your signature on the line marked “Applicant’s Signature.” Then you must have your doctor or other METRO-approved healthcare professional complete and sign the physician section of the METROLift eligibility form.

The doctor must describe in detail (using lay terminology) why your disability prevents you from boarding, navigating, riding, or disembarking from the local bus, even if the local bus provides accessible features such as a wheelchair lift, ramp, bus and stop announcements.

In order to be approved for temporary paratransit services, visitors must have someone from their local paratransit office contact the MetroLift office at (713) 225-0119 and fax certification information.

Requirements for visitor from another city who would like to schedule a ride with CitiAccess?

If the individual is eligible under another Paratransit program they can provide a copy of their ID and certification letter, Citibus will extend courtesy eligibility until the individual completes Citibus’ application process. If an individual is not eligible under another service they can visit with our DOT to expedite certification for services.

MIDLAND/ODESSA

Complimentary rides are Free on Fix Routes for Individuals who have an ADA Identification Card.

If an individual were to select this option, the transit agrees to mail tickets as soon as payment is received.

MonthlyPass (Fix Route)– $36.00 General Public – $27.00 for seniors – and $18.00 students

Requirements for Visitors: Individuals should have their home transit agency to fax their application status to (432) 561- 8056 or the individual has the option to bring their transit identification card into the office at 8007 E. Hwy 80, Odessa, TX. There is no required length of time to become approved, however the visitor must be approved at the time they wish to schedule a ride.

Once approved, the visitor qualifies for up to 21 day visitor status.
