House concurrent resolution congratulating the Shelburne Community School Wind Ensemble on its selection as a participant in the 2007 Walt Disney World®’s Magic Music Days
Offered by: Representatives Errecart of Shelburne and Lenes of Shelburne
Whereas, in March 2004, the Shelburne Community School (SCS) Wind Ensemble was honored to participate in Walt Disney World®’s annual Magic Music Days where the young Vermont players impressed the professional Disney musicians who heard them play, and
Whereas, the 2006–2007 SCS Wind Ensemble members have now duplicated their predecessors’ 2004 great musical accomplishment, and
Whereas, entrée into this elite musical gathering is extremely difficult as thousands of groups, including bands, choruses, and various instrumental ensembles, audition for the few hundred invitations, and
Whereas, even among the limited number of successful musical competitors, only a select few are awarded a prized workshop opportunity, and the SCS Wind Ensemble has now earned a second chance to participate in this unforgettable instructional experience, and
Whereas, while at Walt Disney World®, the SCS Wind Ensemble is scheduled to perform at the Galaxy-Palace Theater in the Magic Kingdom and at the Dockside Stage at Downtown Disney, and
Whereas, the workshop will occur at the EPCOT Magic Music Days recording studio where the students will be taught to perform a soundtrack to accompany a Disney animation, and
Whereas, while these student musicians are in Florida, they will be serving as outstanding ambassadors of the state of Vermont, and
Whereas, while the students will have time to explore Walt Disney World® with their chaperones, this excursion is primarily a musical expedition in which musical practice and performance, at professional standards, will be the first priority, and
Whereas, the SCS Wind Ensemble’s students, none of whom has more than three and one-half years of musical experience, and some much less, can be extremely proud of their hard work and accomplishment, and
Whereas, the ensemble’s success is attributable in large measure to the exceptional leadership and direction of its director, David Myers, now therefore be it
