Art, A.64: 2 balls each of No. 18-A Shaded Purples
And No. 49-A Killarney and 1 ball of No. 1 white
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.
Doily Measures 18 ½ inches square.
Starting at center with White, Ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st rnd: Ch 3, 4 dc in ring, (ch 2, 5 dc in ring) 3 times; ch 2. Join to top of ch-3.
2nd rnd: Sl st to center dc of next group, ch 5, dc in same dc, * ch 1, in next sp make 3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc (corner shell made); ch 1, in center dc of next group make dc, ch 2 and dc (dc-shell made). Repeat from * around, ending with ch 1. Join to 3rd ch of ch-5.
3rd rnd: Sl st across next shell, sl st in ch-1 sp, ch 5, dc in same sp, * ch 1, in sp of corner shell make 3 dc , ch 2 and 3 dc (shell over corner shell made); (ch 1, in next ch-1 sp make dc, ch 2 and dc) twice. Repeat from * around. Join to 3rd ch of ch-5. Continue working as for 3rd rnd, making a shell in each ch-1 sp and a corner shell over each corner shell, and having 1 more shell on each section between corners on each rnd until 17 rnds in all have been completed (16 shells on last rnd). Break off at end of 17th rnd.
18th rnd: Attach Killarney to any corner shell sp, ch 6, in same sp make (tr, ch 2) 8 times and tr (9 sps); * ch 6, skip next shell, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 6, skip next 2 shells, in next ch-1 sp make 4 tr, ch 2 and 4 tr, ch 2 and 4 tr (shell); ch 6, skip next shell, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 6, skip 2 shells, in next ch-1 sp make (tr, ch 2) 3 times; skip next shell, in next ch-1 sp make (tr, ch 2) 4 times; skip next shell, in next ch-1 sp make (tr, ch 2) twice and tr (9sps); ch 6, skip next 2 shells, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 6, skip next 2 shells, in next sp make 4 tr, ch 2 and 4 tr; ch 6, skip next 2 shells, sc in next sp, ch 6, in corner sp make (tr, ch 2) 9 times and tr. Repeat from * around. Join to 4th ch of ch-6.
Break off.
Grapes:
1st row: Attach Shaded Purples to first sp of any 9-sp group, ch 3, in same sp make 9 dc, drop loop from hook, insert hook in top of first st of this group, draw dropped loop through (pc st made), * ch 2, make 10 dc in next sp, insert hook in first dc of group and complete pc st. Repeat from * across remaining 7 sps. Ch 3, turn.
2nd row: 9 dc in first ch-2 sp, drop loop from hook, insert hook in top of ch-3 from back to front, draw dropped loop through (inverted pc st made), * ch 2, 10 dc in next sp, complete inverted pc st. Repeat from * across remaining sps. Ch 3, turn (8 pc sts). Continue working rows of pc sts, having 1 less pc st on each row until 1 pc st remains.
Break off.
Make a bunch of grapes the same way over each group of sps.
LEAVES:
1st row: Attach Killarney to tip of last pc st made on first row of any set of grapes, ch 3, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr, make tr in each of next 2 sps, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (joint-tr made); ch 3, in sp of next shell make 4 tr, ch 2 and 4 tr (another shell); ch 3, make a joint-tr over next 2 sps, ch 3, sl st in tip of first pc st on first row of next set of Grapes, ch 3, sl st in tip of pc st on next row. Ch 3, turn.

CORNER LEAVES:
1st row: With wrong side of doily facing, attach Killarney to ch-3 loop to the right of tip of grapes, ch 5, sc in next loop (to the left of grapes). Ch 4, turn.
2nd row: In loop make 3 tr, ch 2 and 4 tr. Ch 7, turn.
3rd row: In shell sp make (4 tr, ch 2) 3 times and 4 tr; ch 3, tr in top of turning chair on previous row. Ch 7, turn.
4th row: (Shell in next shell sp, ch 3) 3 times; skip 3 ch, tr in next ch. Ch 7, turn.
5th row: (Shell in next shell, ch 3, tr in next ch-3 sp, ch 3) 3 times; skip next 3 ch, tr in next ch. Ch 7, turn.
6th row: * In sp of next shell make (4 tr, ch 2) twice and 4 tr; ch 3, tr in next tr, ch 3. Repeat from * once more, in sp of next shell make (4 tr, ch 2) twice and 4 tr; ch 3, skip next 3 ch, tr in next ch. Ch 7, turn.

Sew corner in place by joining the ends of 2nd and 3rd shell rows to 2nd and 3rd picots of leaves on each side of corners and the ends of last 2 rows to 3rd and 4th picots on next scallop. Make other corner leaves the same way. Sew the first 2 adjacent picots on each side of center grapes together.
Starch lightly and press. (I don’t do this.. I let it dry on a table and stretch with my fingers).
