STARS ON ICE CANADA HISTORICAL TIMELINE
1991: The Canadian leg of the Stars on Ice Tour officially begins, featuring 3-time World Champion Kurt Browning and 2-time Olympic Silver Medalist Brian Orser.
1992:Tour becomes National as it expands to 10 cities. Isabelle Brasseur & Lloyd Eisler join the tour after winning Bronze at the Albertville Winter Olympic Games.
1993:Olympic Gold Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi joins the Tour.Sandra Bezic is hired as Director/Choreographer. Elvis Stojko joins the tour before winning the first of two Olympic Silver medals in the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympic Games.
1994:Katarina Witt joins the tour after participating in her third Winter Olympics in Lillehammer.
1995:Ekaterina Gordeeva & Sergei Grinkov return to the tour following their second Olympic Gold in Lillehammer.
1996:Stars on Ice welcomes the return to the ice of Ekaterina Gordeeva as a solo skater, only 5 months after the passing of her husband, Sergei Grinkov.
1997:Jayne Torvill & Christopher Dean join the Tour.
1999:Tara Lipinski one year removed from her Olympic Gold in Nagano, Japan, joins the Tour.
2001:Scott Hamilton performs for the last time on the Canadian tour. Alexei Yagudin joins the cast.
2003: Olympic Gold Medalists Jamie Salé & David Pelletier join the cast.
2004: Isabelle Brasseur & Lloyd Eisler’s farewell.
2005: Jeffrey Buttle joins the cast. He would go on to win a Silver medal in 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin. Buttle has skated in the Canadian tour every year since.
2006: Elvis Stojko joins the tour for the first time in 13 years. During his absence, he won Silver Medals at the 1994 and 1998 Winter Olympic Games. Future Bronze Medallist, JoannieRochette, joins the tour as a full-time cast member. Rochette has skated in the Canadian tour every year since.
2007: Brian Orser’s final tour. Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir join the tour as special guests in three cities.
2008:Olympic Silver MedalistSasha Cohenjoins the Tour.
2010:20thAnniversary Season. Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir celebrate their Olympic Gold with fellow countrymen, while the tour sells out nearly all shows.
2011:After winning an Olympic Gold Medal in Vancouver the previous year, Evan Lysacekjoins the tour.
2013:After winning his third World Championship, Patrick Chan joins the tour.250th Canadian performance on May 3, 2013 in Saskatoon, SK. CBC telecast nominated for a Canadian Screen Award.
2014: The core of the Silver Medal Canadian Figure Skating Team are represented on the tour, including Silver Medallists Patrick Chan and Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir.
2015:25thAnniversary Season. Kurt Browning returns to direct, choreograph and skate in this anniversary show with Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir, Patrick Chan and cast.
