SANTA MONICA, CA and VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 5, 2016 — Lionsgate (NYSE:LGF), a premier next generation global content leader, announced that production on Stronger will commence this week in Boston, MA. Academy Award®-nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (End of Watch, Prisoners,Southpaw) stars as Jeff Bauman and Golden Globe®-nominee Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, Woman in Gold) stars as his girlfriend Erin Hurley, along with Academy Award®-nominee Miranda Richardson (Damage) as Patty and Clancy Brown (Hail, Caesar!) as Jeff’s Father. The film is a production of Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment label, Mandeville Films, BOLD Films, and Nine Stories. This is Jake Gyllenhaal’s first production under his Nine Stories banner.

Inspired by a true story and based on the New York Times bestseller, Jake Gyllenhaal stars as the working-class Boston man whose iconic photo from the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing captured the hearts of the world. Stronger is the deeply personal account of the heroic journey that came after that photo – defining a man’s inner courage, a community’s pride, a family’s bond and an unexpectedly tenacious love.

Directed by David Gordon Green (George Washington, Pineapple Express), Stronger’s screenplay is written by Boston local John Pollono (Small Engine Repair, Lost Girls) and based on the bestselling book of the same title by Jeff Bauman and Bret Witter. Producers are Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman (The Fighter), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), as well asScott Silver (The Fighter, 8 Mile)and Michel Litvak (Whiplash).

Riva Marker (Beasts of No Nation), Peter McGuigan, Anthony Mattero, Gary Michael Walters (Nightcrawler), Jeffrey Stott (Drive, 2 Guns) and Nicolas Stern (Creed) serve as executive producers. Dylan Tichenor (Zero Dark Thirty, Brokeback Mountain) is the film’s editor. Stephen H. Carter (Spotlight)is the production designer and Sean Bobbitt (Twelve Years A Slave) the Director of Photography. Kim Wilcox (Limitless)is the costume designer and Jeanette Scott (Sin City) the set decorator. Paul Marini serves as the stunt coordinator, while Jared Hartley and John Ruggieri (American Hustle) are in charge of special effects provided by Mikros Image (Rust and Bone).
