STANDARDIZED DRESS 2016-2017

SHIRTS/BLOUSES

1.  Polo/Golf Shirt – Short or long sleeved, with a collar solid in color. No stripes or designs of any kind are allowed.

*Any solid color collared shirt may be worn.

*A plain, short sleeved T shirt or turtleneck shirt in any of the above colors may be worn underneath the shirt. Low cut undershirts are not allowed. Designs and lace are not allowed.

*All shirts not of an appropriate length must be tucked in.

*All shirts must have buttons on the front tab – no snaps, zippers, hooks, Velcro, etc.

*LOGOS smaller than one inch will be allowed. Stickers, buttons & pins or safety pins may not be used to cover a logo.

2.  Dress Shirt-Short or long sleeved, with a collar, solid in color (Buttons down the front)

*All colors may be worn.

*A plain, short sleeved T-shirt or turtleneck shirt in any of the above colors may be worn underneath the shirt.

*All shirts not of an appropriate length must be tucked in.

*No more than 2 buttons may be unbuttoned.

3.  Spirit Shirts – These shirts may be ordered through school programs/clubs and are worn any day of the week. They must be school approved logos and will meet designated dress code guidelines. Only authorized district designs may be worn at designated times.

4.  Future Educational Day Shirts – Students will be allowed to wear a high school or college shirt only on Thursdays.

The following guidelines apply to ALL shirts:

*Shirts and blouses should be made of cotton or cotton blends. NO SHEER OR CLINGING FABRICS WILL BE ALLOWED. All stitching must be the same color as the fabric.

*All clothes must be appropriately sized. Shirts may not be too tight and must fit appropriately.

*No tanks or sleeveless type clothing will be allowed.

*Lace is not allowed on any shirt.

PANTS/CAPRIS/DENIM (JEANS)

Pants/Capri pants with pleats or flat front, no more than 6 pockets. Pockets may be at the waist band or on the leg.

All pants must be solid in color. The following colors may be worn:

Black

Navy Blue

Khaki – Any shade

Denim/Jean material

*THE FOLLOWING MAY NOT BE WORN -, VINYL, LEATHER OR LOOK ALIKES OF ANY OF THESE FABRICS; SPANDEX, YOGA, SWEATPANTS, WINDPANTS, OR SHINY AND GLITTERY FABRICS OF ANY TYPE.

*Pants/capris must be appropriately sized in the waist and length. They may not be oversized or excessively tight in any area. No baggy or sagging pants will be allowed.

*All pants/capris must be hemmed or cuffed.

*Pants or capris may not be frayed or “cut offs”.

*All stitching must be the same color as the fabric.

*Denim (jeans) must not be frayed, cut, or contain holes.

SHORTS/SKIRTS/SKORTS/JUMPERS (NO DENIM SHORTS, SKIRTS, SKORTS, or JUMPERS)

Shorts, skirts, skorts, and jumpers must be solid in color.

Colors: Same colors as for pants (no denim).

*A shirt in the approved dress code colors must be worn underneath jumpers.

*All of these items of clothing must be no shorter than 3 inches above the top of the kneecap.

*Short or long skirts may not have a slit above the knee.

*Rules on fabric, style, and fit for pants apply here, also.

*All clothing must be hemmed. No items can be frayed or “cut off”.

*All stitching must be the same color as the fabric.

BELTS

*If the belt loops are present, a belt may be worn. It must be in the loops.

*The belt must be SOLID and in any of the approved dress code colors or brown.

SWEATERS/VESTS/SWEATSHIRTS/WINDBREAKERS

*These items may be contain a print and any color but must not contain any inappropriate logos, graphics, or words.

*An approved dress code shirt must be worn under the sweatshirt, vest, sweater, or windbreaker.

*All items must be properly sized.

*Sweatshirts must be pullover, crew neck, zip up the front type of sweatshirt, or fleece fabric.

*These items of clothing may not be worn tied around the waist.

(Sweatshirts, sweaters & windbreakers may be worn in the classroom.)

*HEAVY JACKETS & COATS MAY NOT BE WORN IN THE CLASSROOMS OR HALLWAYS.

SHOES/SOCKS

*Shoes must be comfortable for walking.

*House slippers, athletic sandals, and flip-flops are not allowed.

*Heels may not be higher than 2”.

*Socks must be solid and meet any of the dress code colors.

JEWELRY

*Pierced jewelry is limited to ears only. NO ear bars are allowed or facial piercings.

*No inappropriate jewelry will be allowed.

*No heavy metal or spiked jewelry.

No hats, scarves, hoods, bands, etc. on head

Distracting hair styles/colors will not be allowed.

All clothes must be in good repair.

The principals shall determine if clothing, jewelry, or hair is appropriate for school.
