Greetings!
With the restoration of Board Examination in Class X for the session 2017-18 CBSE has brought in significant changes in the system of Assessment and Examination pattern in classes. This has been done to increase the confidence in the students when they join the upper primary stage in class VI. The board has done away with C.C.E pattern and introduced Term Assessment System. The details of the same are as follows.
Structure of Assessment.
The entire academic session will be divided into two terms.
Each Term will have the following components:-
a)Periodic Assessment (P.A):- Periodic Assessment in each term.
- Periodic Tests: - OnePeriodic test will be conducted in each term. Periodic Test of Term-I will be conducted in July and of Term II in the month of December. The syllabus for these tests will be the course content covered before the announcement of dates by the school i.e. PT-I will have syllabus covered between April and July and PT-2 will be based on the syllabus taught between October and November. These tests will be conducted during regular school hours without any gap. These tests will be of 50 marks which will be reduced to 10 marks. Duration of these tests will be one hour.
- Notebook Submission: - Notebook submission will be a part of assessment carrying 5 marks. Teachers will assess students continuously throughout the term. At the end of each term marks will be awarded out of 5 on the basis of Regularity, AssignmentCompletion, Neatness and upkeep of Notebooks.
- Subject Enrichment Activities: - These will be subject specific activities conducted throughout each term to enhance understanding and skills of the subject. Students will be evaluated for the same and awarded 5 marks at the end of the term.
b)Half Yearly and Final Examination: - Instead of Summative Assessment we will now have Half Yearly and Annual Examinations. These will be conducted in the month of Octoberand March. The same will be of 80 marks and two hours duration. The syllabus includes the entire syllabus covered in the respective term.

c)Co-Scholastic Areas:- Co- Scholastic activities in the following areas will be conducted for the holistic development of the students and will be graded . The students will be assessed on the aspects of regularity, sincere participation and output and teamwork throughout the term. These Co-Scholastic activities shall fall under:
i. Work Education ii. Art Education iii. Health & Physical Education
d)Discipline: - The students willalso be assessed for the discipline which will be based on the factors like attendance, sincerity, behaviour, values, tidiness and respectfulness for rules and regulations, attitude towards society, nation and others. Grading on Discipline will be done term-wise on a 3 point grading scale (A= outstanding, B= Very Good and C= Fair)
