PRAYER OF THE MONTH: December 2017: An Advent Prayer: Come, long-expected Jesus. Excite in me a wonder at the wisdom and power of Your Father and ours. Receive my prayer as part of my service of the Lord who enlists me in God's own work for justice. Come, long-expected Jesus. Excite in me a hunger for peace: peace in the world, peace in my home, peace in myself. Come, long-expected Jesus. Excite in me a joy responsive to the Father's joy. I seek His will so I can serve with gladness, singing and love. Come, long-expected Jesus. Excite in me the joy and love and peace it is right to bring to the manger of my Lord. Raise in me, too, sober reverence for the God who acted there, hearty gratitude for the life begun there, and spirited resolution to serve the Father and Son. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, whose advent I hail. Amen.

BEREAVEMENT COMMITTEE: The Council has formed a Bereavement Committee and is still looking for volunteers to join it. Contact Art Midgley at 609-294-0571 or PGK Jeff Hawarden @ 732-768-0479 if you are interested.

COUNCIL OFFICERS: At our May 2017 Meeting, we had our election of new Officers for the current Fraternal Year. They are:

DEGREES AND NEW MEMBERSHIP: We had our first ever combined First and Second Degrees on Tuesday, November 28th. There were 9 new brothers that made their First Degree, then 17 Brothers went onto make their Second Degree. It was a very exciting night and we hope to do this again.

Please welcome our new Brothers to St. Theresa’s Council: John Russo and Dr. Philip Spinelli. We hope to see you at the next meeting in order to formally welcome you to the Council.

DIOCESION BISHOP’S APPERCIATION DINNER: The Trenton Diocese Federation hosted an Appreciation for Bishop David O’Connell at St Martha’s Church in Point Pleasant on November 17th. Thanks to our brother Knights who came out to this very special event.

SPAGETTI DINNER: Our “Knight of Italy” Spaghetti Dinner held on November 4th was a huge success. Thanks to our Brother Knights (and Georgeann Siano) who helped made this an incredible night. A Very Special Thank you is in order for Frank @ Naples Pizza who’s Meat Balls, Sauce (Gravy) and Garlic Knots left everyone wanting more.

COUNCIL ADVENT PARTY: This year, our annually Advent Party will be held at Cuisine on the Green at Atlantis Golf Course on December 16th. The Menu this will be a Buffet Style diner with: Caesar Salad, Chicken Marsala & Grilled Mahi, Rigatoni Bolognese, Red Roasted Potatoes, Chefs Vegetables, and Chocolate cake for Desert. Beverages will include: Coffee, Tea, and Soft Drinks. It will be from 6:00-10PM. Tickets are $35.00 a head, Dress attire will be semi-formal/Jacket & Tie. We will be honoring our Past Grand Knight, Jeff Hawarden. So please come out and show your appreciation. COMMUNITY FOOD BANK ASSISTANCE: We are continuing our assistance for the Little Egg Harbor Food Pantry. Assistance is always needed in distributing the paper bags after Mass. Help is also requested for various events listed below.

SUMMARY OF UPCOMING FOOD PANTRY EVENTS:

BABY DIAPERS: Diapers needed for the Community Food Bank (sizes 3, 4, & 5). Please donate at the monthly Parish Food Drive or at monthly council meetings.

DUES NOTICE’S: Just a reminder that dues notices have been sent out for all those members who still have to pay. Please Contact Joe Lyon’s for More information.

POCKET BADGES: If you ordered a pocket name badge from Joe Lyons, some of them are in. The price is $14.00 for a Fourth Degree Knight; $13.00 for all other Knights. See Joe Lyons at the Council meeting for your badge. Joe is also taking orders for new badges. See him at the meeting.

OTHER: At our Officers Meeting, Our Financial Secretary Joe Lyons announced that he will be resigning his term on June 1st, 2018. We thank Joe for all of the years he has helped our council out and we will certainly miss him. See the GK or any of the Trustees for more information.
