CHILDREN’S CHATTER

Dear Parents:

It has been almost six months since school began and so much has changed for our little ones. It seems as though each and every minute brings a new accomplishment for them. I hope you had the pleasure of witnessing your little one’s thrill when looking at his or her Valentines cards from their friends. The noise level in the building escalated with their delight – once again they show us the simple pleasures!

I want to thank you again for all the items you sent in for the carnival baskets; once again your help made our basket raffle successful.

This month is a very busy month, Carnival, Mom’s Night Picture Day. Spring is on the way, at least daylight saving time comes March 12th and it will be lighter longer and bring in warm air!

P.S. I am happy to announce I have a new grandson born February 21, 2017, Kade Matthew. He weighed 7lbs & 13 oz. I am so blessed to have 6 beautiful grandchildren and one more on the way at the end of July. They melt my heart!!!!

Mrs. Rieman

Did You Know?

Each month I give you a donut order in case you would like to order any fresh homemade donuts made by Paul. Paul makes these once a month to help raise money for the Tuesday night community dinner. St. Paul Church holds a free community dinner every Tuesday from 5:00 – 6:30 for anyone who needs a meal. They get a lot of donated food from food pantries & Kroger’s, but the one thing they lack is the meat for the meal. So the money they make from the donuts is used for the purchase of the meat.

Thank you to all who purchase the donuts & God Bless you for helping the community. (If you’ve never purchased any, you should try them – they are delicious!!) They are ready for pick up on any time after 8:00 a.m. on the first Tuesday of every month.

NEWS FROM MRS. RIEMAN

March is a very busy month! The three’s are busy working on their number books & they are getting ready for Mom’s to come to school for an evening of fun! In our classroom you will find a Hair Salon! Look out! The sound of blow dryers are busy at work. Often you will see more boys in the shop than girls.

NEWS FROM MRS. JOSCHE

During the month of March we will be keeping busy preparing for Mom’s Night. The children are really looking forward to spending some special time with their moms. Moms will love playing in our “St. Paul Flower Shop” where they can help sort, arrange and sell flowers with their children. Some of the songs you will be hearing this month include, “Lipperty Lop” and “Little Bunny Foo Foo.”

In the 3 Year Old Class

We continue working on our number books by learning about numbers 2 through 7. We will be making special gifts for our moms. We will also be playing a new game to review colors called “Fuzzy Pom Pom” and learning a new magnet board story, “5 Little Owls.”

In the 4 Year Old Class:

Our letters for the month are B, D, N and M. For Bweek we will make sprout houses with beans and watch them grow in our window. We will make a donkey craft for D week and work on learning our house numbers for the letter N. We will also experiment with magnets for M week.

NEWS FROM THE CLASSROOMS

From the Pre-K Classroom…

Our schedule for March is…

Feb. 27 – March 2 Ii Week

We will be learning about musical instruments and the 5 senses. But most importantly, we will be usingour imaginations!

March 6 – 8 Mm Week

Mom, prepare to be amazed! Its Mom’s Night this week and we’re working on a special show just for you! Also, the children have been practicing tying shoestrings, knots, yarn – anything with two strings! So with mom’s help we will be making a fleece pillow – with lots of knots to tie!

March 13 - 16Ww Week

What begins with Ww? Question words begin with Ww – who, what, when, where and why. All the letters we have been learning make words. We will also learn the properties of water and review the days of the week. And, just for fun, during Free Choice Time, each student will weave a placemat to take home.

March 20 - 23Kk Week

For the next two weeks the theme is bigger than ever – Travel and Space. For Kk Week we will study Cartography which is the art of mapmaking. Do you know which way is North, South, East and West? The students will. We will learn to use a compass and review addresses. We will also have a librarian visit on Wednesday, March 22. The children will be getting their own library cards!

March 27 - 30Uu Week

This week we will experiment with sink and float, review opposites and talk about animals in the rainforest – don’t forget your umbrella! In their journals the children will draw themselves upside down. Can you figure out how we do that?

Happy Spring! Mrs. Ehrhardt & Mrs. Miller
