This weekend our parish will be holding the annual Missio Scotland Mission Sunday Appeal. This year we are invited to reach out and help projects like those run by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix. The Sisters run a Babies Home just outside of Kampala in Uganda with the help of young women from the local community who are called “mothers” by the children. For more information and to see a short video from the sisters visit their website: www.missio.scot.

To this end it is hoped to compile a list of ideas for events to take place in the hall during its first couple of weeks. Parishioners are encouraged, that when creating their idea to take ownership of it. Many of you have had ideas in the past, so here is an opportunity to let your ‘light’ shine brightly for the good of all the community. Reflection Life and religion

Who can separate his faith from his actions, or his belief from his occupations?

Who can spend his hours before him, saying: “This for God and this for myself; this for my soul and this other for my body?

He who wears his morality but as his best garment were better naked.

Your daily life is your temple and your religion.

Whenever you enter into it take with you your all.

Take the plough and the forge and the mallet and the lute, the things you have fashioned in necessity or for delight.

And take with you all people.

And if you know God—look about you and you will see him playing with your children.

(Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet, William Heinemann)

Joke of the week

A homeless man, down on his luck, went into a Catholic Church that was known for its rather “uppity” social reputation. Spotting the man’s dirty clothes, the ushers stopped him outside the church door and asked if he needed help. The man told him, “I was praying and the Lord told me to come to this church.”

The ushers suggested that the man go away and pray some more and he might get a different answer.

The following Sunday the man returned and the ushers again stopped him at the door. “Well, did you get a different answer?” they asked him.

“Yes, I did.” said the man. “I told the Lord that you don’t want me here, but the Lord said, “Keep trying, son. I’ve been trying to get into that church for years and I haven’t made it yet either.”
