7 PM and then the meeting downstairs in Marian Hall.

SJ & IC LECTORS NEEDED: Both SJ & IC need lectors who will proclaim the readings for Saturday evening Mass. IC needs a reader for the 2nd Saturday of every month (or the 3rd one, if that would suit better) and SJ needs 2 readers for Saturday evening Mass. The present lectors have been serving for many years and believe it is time for the next generation to come forward in service to Christ and the Church. If anyone is willing to help, please call Pam at the rectory at 495-5241. Training will be provided.

SJ: Tuesday, September 19th there will be “Sauerkraut making” at 7 PM in SJ Church basement. Help is needed.

A LIFETIME OF SERVICE, A MOMENT OF THANKS: The annual collection to help subsidize medical insurance and retirement expenses of active and senior Diocesan priests will take place next weekend, Sept. 23/24. Please place the special envelope that is in your pack (or mark a plain envelope "Senior Priests") in next weekend's offertory. Thank you for your generosity.

SJ & IC: Our religious education program began last Sunday, Sept. 10th. IC's program will have classes twice a month (Sept. 24; Oct. 122); each session will be from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. SJ's program will be as usual; every Sunday after the 8 AM Mass, from 9 AM to 9:50 AM. Substitute teachers are needed in both parishes.

SPECIAL COLLECTION today is for the “Hurricane Harvey” victims. Please be generous.

SJ & IC: Heart to Heart is the official magazine of the Benedictines at Saint Vincent Archabbey. The most recent issue, September 2017, is dedicated to the life and service and death of the former major superior, Archabbot Paul Maher, OSB, 1925-2017. Heart to Heart have been placed in the gathering space of both churches. Feel free to take a copy home.

SJ & IC: We are in the process of writing additional information for publication on our website. We also had pictures taken of our July 4th Parish Picnic for Immaculate Conception and St John’s Annual Parish Picnic. As soon as these articles and pictures are available, they will be published on our website. Thank you for your patience.

SJ & IC: October is the month to celebrate the rosary by recitation as individuals, as a family, and as a parish. All are encouraged to pray the rosary for world peace.

BENEDICTINE ANNUAL APPEAL: A collection in response to the Benedictine Appeal will be taken up in both SJ & IC parishes. The purpose of this collection is to help meet the St. Vincent Archabbey Community’s educational and health care needs. The appeal will be at both parishes on September 23rd & 24th. The collection will be taken up the weekend of Sept. 30/Oct. 1. The special envelope for this collection is in your pack of envelopes in the month of September. There will be extra envelopes in the back of both churches.
