WELCOME TO THE OCTOBER EDITION

ST CATHERINES LIGHTHOUSE.

SCAM WARNINGS!!!

This month we have received several reports from members of public who have been persuaded to pass money on.

SCAM 1: A caller pretending to work for Hampshire Constabulary has been calling businesses trying to promote an ASB magazine. The caller is asking for a subscription fee and their bank account details.

SCAM 2: PPI. A caller stating that they are from a company who specialise in reclaiming PPI money back and they could recover £2500. The callers constantly called back until the vulnerable person gives in. The company insisted on a £250 fee payable in ”PAYSAFE” vouchers for their troubles. The scam company continued in bombarding the person until she got the vouchers and read the pin numbers to the call taker. This happened over a period of days. This scam company managed to gain the ladies personal and bank details.

If you received any scam callers please refrain from giving them your personal and bank details. Please report any incidents where you think you have been a victim of a scam.
