Paul Carr studied organ with Dr Roy Massey MBE at Hereford Cathedral and Professor David Saint at Birmingham Conservatoire, graduating with first-class honours. He is Director of Music at St Paul's in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham and Musician in Residence at Holy Trinity Parish Church Wordsley, posts which he combines with a busy schedule as a solo recitalist.

In addition to performances on many of the finest instruments in the UK, which have recently included York Minster, Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s Cathedral London, solo engagements have taken him to Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and France where he has given an organ recital at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Paul has also made several visits to the USA, where he has performed solo recitals both in and around Chicago and at Washington National Cathedral.

Since 1993 Paul has given monthly performances in the Midlands; his current series Sunday Afternoon Organ Music takes place at Holy Trinity Parish Church Wordsley, Stourbridge, on the first Sunday of every month at 3.00pm. In addition he can be heard at St Paul's Birmingham at 1.15pm on the first Thursday of most months in the Thursday Live series which he founded in 2008.

Paul’s début solo CD recording, French Flavours, was released in 2012 on the Regent Records label. Recorded at St Chad’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Birmingham, it is also the first commercial solo recording of the fine 1993 Walker instrument. It has received critical acclaim including a five-star rating in Choir & Organ magazine and Editor’s Choice in Organists’ Review.

Lunchtime Recitals are held each second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 1.10pm by kind permission of the church wardens and clergy of this church. They feature visiting recitalists, and our choristers and music staff. On 13th August, we will welcome Timothy Emberson (Baritone) and Eden Walker (Piano) whose recital is entitled "Schubertiade", featuring a selection of songs from "Schwanengesang" and others, celebrating Schubert's finest works. Please note there will be no organ recital in August, but recitals will resume as usual in September with a brass quartet on Wednesday 10th September and David Phillips, International Concert Recitalist, on Wednesday 24th September.

A full listing of organ recitals for 2014/15 can be found at www.organrecitals.com. We thank you for your attendance. There will be a retiring collection at the end of this recital to assist with the music making in this church and the upkeep of the organ, to ensure that it continues to work soundly in the years to come. Please do give as generously as you can.
