Vista offers support services for children, young people, parents, families and schools in the local

SCHOOL FAMILY WORKER

Your school has a dedicated School Family Worker who can help you with supporting your child/ren. Our School Family Workers are qualified and trained to OCN Level 3, HCC Safeguarding standards and can deliver a variety of courses and workshops. They undertake on-going training in specialist subjects enabling them to support parents in one to one work or small groups.

As well as supporting parents, our School Family Workers deliver mentoring sessions to children in a safe environment in school. Your School Family Worker can be contacted direct or through a member of school staff.

New Project – Support for Starfish Childrens Ward, Watford Hospital – Magic Shows!!!

Vista is raising funds for the Carer Support Team in the Starfish Ward at Watford Hospital which is a new project helping parents whose child is in the ward. We are running an event on Saturday, 4th October for primary school children. If you are interested in helping us raise funds for this valuable service email: .

COUNSELLING SERVICE FOR ADULTS, CHILDREN and YOUNG PEOPLE

Vista offers counselling as a private service. We have qualified Counsellors working for and in partnership with Vista who are quality assured by Vista, trained in safeguarding and hold enhanced CRBs. Counsellors are all members of BACP (their professional body) and are experienced practitioners who follow the BACP ethical codes of practice and receive regular supervision.

If you or your child require counselling and may be able to pay for the service please contact Vista direct.

PARENT PARTIES – Understanding Teenagers, Self Esteem …

Would you like to host a Vista Parent Party? We can offer a variety of topics for an informal lunch or evening party for you and a few of your friends. You invite your friends and provide the venue – we will bring the resources, strategies and ideas. AUTUMN TERM’S EVENTS

Families Feeling Safe – FREE Course – 29 September-1 December

Based on Protective Behaviours the course aims to raise self esteem and personal confidence, manage stress, improve relationships and develop practical skills to keep yourself and your children safe. Run on Monday evenings, 7.00pm-9.00pm at The Conference Room, STANTA Business Centre, Soothouse Spring, AL3 6PF.

My Teen Brain – Four week course for Parents of children in Years 6 and 7 – 1 October-22 October

Learn about research explaining teenage behaviour and get prepared! The four sessions cover responding to difficult feelings, communication, managing conflict and problem solving. Educational Pyschology Workshops – 1 October

Are you a Parent who would like to speak to a member of the Hertfordshire Psychology Team about your child’s progress? You can book a 45 minute appointment or get more information on all surgeries being held by calling 01442 453904/453779/453825. Our next local surgery is: Wednesday, 1st October at Park Street Childrens Centre, Mount Pleasant Lane, Bricket Wood, AL2 3XA; Friday, 7th November at Sopwell & Verulam Childrens Centre, Mandeville Drive, St Albans, AL1 2LE.

Simple Solutions (Drop-In Session) – with Sally Glossop, Autism Advisor – 8 October

Sally Glossop provides a regular FREE drop in session for Parents and carers of children and young people with additional needs. A chance to find solutions to challenging behaviour in your child with Autism/Aspergers/ASD. This is a free of charge drop in session but you do need to register. First Aid for Teens – Saturday, 18th October

A four hour accredited course for young people who babysit or care for children run by MGM Training. This course is offered to anyone aged 13 years and above. Understanding the Criminal Mind Seminar – 20th October

A fascinating talk being offered to Parents, Carers, Students and Professionals by Criminologist, Dr Kathryn Weston.
