Sri Ramakrishna Seva Samithi, Bapatla was established in the year 1970 under the Societies Act. It was founded with the inspiration of the monks of the Ramakrishna Order.

Our organization works with the inspiration of the monks of the Ramakrishna order. Monks visit our samithi regularly to conduct various programs. However, we do not receive any financial support from the Ramakrishna Mission.

The activities of our Samithi are taken up with the help and assistance of the friends and well-wishers of our Samithi. In our organization all the activities are carried out by volunteers and there are no paid workers.

Important activities of our organization:

  1. Helping the needy children.
  2. Publication of books at subsidized prices.
  3. Conducting prayer meetings and spiritual retreats.

Everyday 30-40 children both boys and girls attend the Samithi. They are all from poorer sections of the society. Everyday we provide them with healthy nutritional food in the evening. Periodically we provide them dresses to wear. We also supply them notebooks and other educational materials required. We are paying the examination fees of the children also. In addition, we have a few volunteers who will assist them in their home work and in their preparation for the examinations.

Every day we conduct a yoga class, music class and class for teaching children moral and spiritual ideals.

We have published nine books with an aim to spread to the universal message of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda. Recently we have published a book in Telugu language entitled 'Pushpanjali' which is acclaimed by one and all as a very good book on moral education for children. We are making this book available for children at a subsidized price.

Every year we conduct Competitions for the school children under the name Vivekananda Cultural Awards Programme. During the year 2005 more than 2000 children have participated representing 25 schools. Competitions are being conducted in events like recitation, story telling, quiz, essay writing, elocution etc. Competitions are conducted for college students also.

Every day we conduct a prayer meeting between 6.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. We also conduct spiritual retreats by inviting the monks of the Ramakrishna order.
