ST. PETER SCHOOL BEGINS
2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR BY SPREADING THE GOOD NEWS

Students, Faculty, Parents and Parishioners Join In Celebration

--

Warwick, RI, September 2, 2009: The St. Peter School community officially began the 2009-2010 school year with an Opening Mass attended by 160 students from Kindergarten through Grade 8 as well as faculty, parents and parishioners. Principal Joan Sickinger and Pastor Rev. Roger Gagne welcomed the children and their families back to school. Father Gagne asked students to raise their hand if they’ve come to the school from St. Benedict, St. Timothy or the recently closed, St. Francis. He welcomed these students to the St. Peter’s family and reinforced the need for a Catholic education in today’s society.

“Catholic education has flourished at St. Peter’s for 50 years” said Gagne. “Today, we must rededicate ourselves to spreading the Good News of Jesus.” He continued by explaining to the children that “the Good News of Jesus is love, patience, compassion and kindness. These things should be practiced in the classroom, on the playground and at home.”

The mass was prepared and presented by the faculty with readings by Third grade teacher, Ms. Michaela Dwyerof Warwick and Physical Education teacher, Mr. Paul Evans of Warwick. First grade teacher, Mrs. Anne Robinson of Warwick and Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Nicole Regnaultof Johnston presented the Offertory Gifts. Throughout the school year, the students prepare and present mass monthly and on Holy Days of Obligation. Parents, neighbors and the parish community are invited to join the school for these special occasions. Please check the website for dates and times.

Photos taken are of children attending mass, singing and sitting with their “Big Buddies.”
