Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS)
We are now in the midst of collecting student data for the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System. It is designed to assess the progress that limited English proficient (LEP) students make in learning the English language. It is taken kindergarten through grade 12 in four language domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The four proficiency levels measure a child’s ability to understand and use English in grade-level academic settings. Academic English language acquisition is key to long-term student success in high school and college! Online practice for the reading assessment may be found at
Online Reading and Math Programs
There are many online resources to support your child’s reading and math development. Programs that are aligned to the TEKS and used on campus include: iStation (reading – all grades), Think Through Math (3rd – 8th grade), DreamBox (PK – 2nd grade) and Study Island (3rd – 8th grade). You can access all of these sites from home. Be sure you have your passwords before you leave for Spring Break. Ask your child’s teacher for the list of passwords or see Mr. Hebert in the computer lab.
Practice is an important habit to develop especially to master a difficult skill. To learn more about STAAR and learning requirements in Texas, go to
