‘Garden in a Box’

Thrive has a limited number of gardening boxes for sale, all packed by MPs, councillors and delegates at the Conservative Party Conference this year. Each box contains a seed tray and grid, bottle-top waterer, Peta Easi-grip scissors, small bag of compost, three packets of seeds, latex-free gloves and Thrive's Gardening Independence Guide. Selling at £23 (+ £7 P&P) money raised will go towards helping people with disabilities at Thrive. Each box has information about what to do and the signature of who packed the box.

British Athletics

British Athletics are promoting a series of Talent Introduction Days for aspiring disabled athletes to train with specialist coaches across the Paralympic athletics events – sprints, ambulant throws, seated throws and wheelchair racing.

Tate Britain

Tate Britain offer free audio description sessions.Every third Monday of the month from 11am-12.30pm. The next session is 16 December exploring the new exhibition Art Under Attack: Histories of British Iconoclasm. Sighted escorts and guide dogs are welcome.

DSC Community Clubs

The purpose of the Community Clubs is to provide access to exciting, enjoyable and safe, two-hour sporting sessions on a weekly basis for people with any disability aged 11-25. This opportunity allows young adults to experience Paralympic and multi-sports including athletics, archery, fencing, sitting volleyball, goalball, judo and many more.

Extant

Extant are running a new dance project called IDance, for blind and partially sighted people, to take place in January and February 2014. They are offering 3 dance workshops (10 sessions for each dance), culminating in a public performance at the end of February. Workshops are free and 12 spaces available on each.

One workshop will be Contemporary (physical theatre dance), another will be Street Dance. The third dance style is still to be decided. Support will be available at the actual events and collection from meeting points at local points of public transport will also be arranged. The dance studios are being selected for their accessibility. Dance tutors are highly trained with good experience of teaching blind and partially sighted people.

London Bubble Theatre Company

A community based organisation in Rotherhithe, running for over 40 years. As part of their work, they run a number of evening groups for all ages and all abilities, led by professional artists. The groups offer the opportunity to explore making theatre and telling your own story through many different approaches. No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome.

Clyde Sea Lochs and Islands keel boat

2014 Clyde Sea Lochs and Islands keel boat introduction for visually impaired people flotilla week (12 -19 April 2014).

Keel boat sailing for visually impaired people, comprising of a flotilla week with 4 or 5 chartered yachts for up to 25 visually impaired participants will commence from Largs marina on the Clyde estuary in April 2014.

Cost £215 per participant.
