Dear Parents,
I look forward to working with you to make this a great year for your child. Third grade is challenging and requires more work than was necessary in the primary grades. AGENDA:
Your child has an agenda this year. The agenda is a way to promote organization and communication. The agenda also allows us to communicate daily and work as a team. Your child will write down the homework assignments each day. Please sign the agenda every day. This tells me that you have seen any notes and that you are aware of the homework that needed to be completed.
SPELLING NOTEBOOK:
Spelling must be completed in the spelling notebook. Each page must have name, date, number, centered title and heading. Spelling is due each Friday and the spelling test is given each Friday morning. Handwriting is an important part of the homework. Spelling is completed each day and must include Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If your child is absent they must still complete 4 days of spelling for Friday.
HOMEWORK POLICY:
Homework is necessary to ensure that your child practices what we learn each day and is prepared for their weekly spelling and math facts assessments.
BEHAVIOR SYSTEM:
Behavior is monitored in Class Dojo. Each day your child will receive positive or negative points to show their behavior and completion of assignments for that day. Please check Class Dojo daily to see how your child is doing and what is happening in our class.
READING LOG:
Your child will have a reading log to complete each night. It is very important that your child read 20 minutes each day. To be a better reader and writer a child needs to practice each day. A good reader is someone who reads each day!
I have read and understand the class policies and homework expectations for Hedrick’s Heroes 3rd grade class.
I understand my child must complete 4 days of spelling homework in the spelling notebook and it is due each Friday.
I understand my child will need to learn their multiplication facts from 2 X 1 to 12 X 12. They will be tested each Friday on the current fact they are studying.
I realize my child will benefit from reading 20 minutes each night.
