Spelling Choice Board

January 2016

Directions: Keep this paper in your homework folder every day for the current month! Choose three activities to complete each week (Monday-Wednesday) for homework for ALL your weekly spelling words. The last activity (Thursday) must be a spelling practice test signed by your parent. Please be sure your name and number are on each assignment!

Alphabetical Order
First, write your spelling words in a list. Then, write them in alphabetical order. / Triangle Spelling
Write one letter at a time on each line. Add a letter to each line until the word is complete.
Example: school
s
sc
sch
scho
schoo
school
/ Three Times!
Write each spelling word three times. First, write each word in pencil. Second, write each spelling word in crayon. Third, write each spelling word in color pencil/marker.
Type ‘Em
Type your spelling words on the computer. Make each word have a different font. You can even email your words to me:
Parents, please send a note in the agenda stating the assignment was complete and the words were emailed.
/ Multiply by 6’s
Assign each letter the number 6, and then multiply 6 by how many letters are in the word. For example, handle 6x6=36
/ Rhyming Words
Write each of your spelling words. Next to each word, write a rhyming word. If necessary, your rhyming word can be a nonsense word (as long as it follows the spelling pattern.)
Example: bought fought
Fancy Letters
Write each of your spelling words using fancy letters.
Your letters can have curly-q’s and dots for example. Have fun!
/ Words without Consonants
Write your spelling words on paper, but replace all the consonants with a line. Then go back to the beginning of your paper and see if you can fill in the correct missing consonants without looking at your spelling words.
/ Create an Activity
Can you think of a really fun way to practice your spelling words? Then go for it! Be sure to explain your activity so I can share it with the class.
You must write out your activity on paper in paragraph form with complete sentences. This activity requires a parent signature stating that you did complete the activity.
