Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer rolling admissions?

No. All applications are reviewed following the deadline. Students are accepted to start during the fall semester only.

Is it possible to enroll in the program part-time?

No. All students are required to enroll full-time during the entire program.

What is the earliest I can be made to accept and offer by any University?

Students are under no obligation to respond to offers of financial support prior to April 15; earlier deadlines for acceptance of such offers violate the intent of this Resolution*. In those instances in which a student accepts an offer before April 15 and subsequently desires to withdraw that acceptance, the student may submit in writing a resignation of the appointment at any time through April 15. For more details go to the Council of Graduate Schools link about the April 15 deadline at The PDF with the list of Universities who signed the resolution is viewable at Resolution

* This Resolution applies to offers of financial support only, not offers of admission.

*Special note about Aural Rehabilitation: AuD students take aural rehabilitation as part of their graduate program. MA students can take it as part of their graduate program although taking it as an undergraduate course provides you with a greater opportunity to take special topic electives during your graduate studies.

IN ADDITION, ASHA requires students to have a course in each of the following content areas:

Biological sciences (human or animal sciences)

Social/behavioral sciences

Physical science (Chemistry or Physics)

Statistics (Stand alone course)

If you take a class at another institution, the content must be comparable to the ones listed below. Description of courses can be viewed at:

For classes taken outside of OHIO University, you will be required to submit official transcripts to the CSD Office upon acceptance into a CSD graduate program at OHIO University.

For Questions About Applying for Admission to the MA-SLP Program:

How many applicants do you receive for the MA-SLP program?

The State of OHIO also has a new program called Forever Buckeye that extends the in-state resident tuition rate to any public or private OHIO high schoolgraduate who leaves the state but returns to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate program at an OHIO college and also establishes residency in OHIO.The Forever Buckeyes provision of law removes the 12-month period of establishing domicile in OHIO before becoming eligible for in-state tuition rates. Go to for full-details. The OHIO University Forever Buckeye Residency Application can be found at: bit.ly/1pzxaCp

Every student should fill out the FAFSA.

The Division of CSD has financial assistance for students in the form of partial and full GA positions. A partial GA position comes with a stipend and 50% tuition waiver. A full GA position also comes with a stipend (at a higher rate compared to the partial) and 100% tuition waiver. These positions are based on students’ previous academic achievements as well as faculty, staff and clinic needs. There is no guarantee that a student will receive a GA position. These positions are determined year-by-year. If a student has a GA position his/her first year, there is no guarantee the student will have a GA position the following year.

Information about tuition rates can be found at:

At Ohio University the maximum charge for graduate tuition is 9 hours, so tuition fees remain the sum up to 18 credit hours. See the above tuition rate link for fees beyond 18 credit hours.
