You need to give support to your statements with facts, citations and references (e.g. - "According to the most recent study from the Department of Motor Vehicles" ...) NOT at the end of the sentence, statement, or paragraph. Do not cite a website URL - site the name of the website (e.g. according to Reuters ... not according to or use footnotes.
This supports your points to the audience and makes them credible. Remember this is a speech – it’s what you are to be saying to an audience.
Also do not use parenthetical references or “quotes” – this is a speech to be given to an audience and they can’t see parenthesis or quotations.
Wrap up your presentation with a conclusion that sums up all of the discussion and has a call to action. What do you want your audience to do??
