OUTDOOR POWER EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

Job Summary: Maintains, repairs, services, Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE) used in commercial and consumer applications. Prepares equipment for sale, display, or use.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on OPE. Inspects, tests, and operates OPE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.

Diagnoses mechanical and electrical circuitry for malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, removes, disassembles, repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and re-installs OPE accessories and components.
Services OPE such as, but not limited to; Grass cutting machinery i.e. Lawn Mowers, ride on and walk behind, Hand Held equipment, i.e. string trimmers, blowers, chain saws, Generators, Pressure Washers, both cold water and hot water, Air Compressors, both electric motor driven and engine driven, with fuel, oil, coolant, water, hydraulic fluid, and air. Operates, cleans, inspects, and services the same OPE, including positioning OPE for maintenance, repairs, service, and sales operations.
Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs OPE. Performs troubleshooting on OPE before performing repair action. Performs inspections of work on completed maintenance and repair actions. Prepares OPE for storage and or customer pickup. Solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and other technical publications in both paper and electronic format. Uses illustrated parts listings both electronic and paper form to identify parts needed for repairs. Uses computer based systems and paper form documentation to maintain customer records, and document maintenance actions. Analyzes and repairs OPE using conventional and digital multimeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, leak down testers, speed indication and revolution indicators and testers and hand tools. Maintains fuelstorage systems and waste disposal collection points. Stores, handles, uses, and disposes of hazardous material and waste according to environmental standards.
Knowledge. Knowledge is expected of: principles of electricity, both AC and DC, general mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and reciprocating engines, both air cooled, liquid cooled and diesel and gaseous fueled, 2 cycle, 4 cycle, single and multi cylinder; troubleshooting, inspecting, repairing, and modifying equipment; application of OPE repair techniques; interpretation of maintenance technical publications, drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics; and proper identification, handling, use, and storage of hand tools.

Education. For consideration of this position, completion of high school with courses in general science and industrial arts is desirable. Prior work experience in other related fields and or Military experience specifically in Aerospace Ground Equipment and Civil Engineering Power Production career fields is a plus. Certifications in OPE need to be presented.

Other. Normal color vision is expected. Physical abilities to perform afore mentioned tasks are assumed and expected. Computer skills and abilities expected; internet navigation, Windows applications, Microsoft office, specifically Word and Excel are expected and will be strongly considered, and email use.
