Academic Focus
Reading/ELA:
We will continue to compare the loyalists and patriots. This time we will looking at the viewpoints of the children and how they felt and reacted during that time period.
Mathematics:
Our focus will shift to division over the next few weeks while continuing to work on multiplication. We have begun a “Multiplication Challenge” amongst the homerooms to ramp up the emphasis on knowing their facts. Additionally, we have started to use Dream Box, a computer program, as part of our group rotations. This program is meant to fortify and extend skills in all areas of mathematics. Your children may also access Dream Box at home.
Content:
We will continue our science unit about Energy. Students will be conducting experiments, recording observations and data in their science journals, and reading to learn more about energy.

Book Orders:
New book orders are going home today. They are due this Friday. It is a quick turn around because delivery is slower this time of year and we want to make sure you get your orders before December break. / Miscellaneous:
The cold weather has arrived, but we are still going onto the playground/field each day. Please talk with your child about what outer clothing you want him/her to wear when outside. Some children are trying to go outside without the coats you send them to school in. Also, the snow will soon arrive and we ask that you also talk about what you want your child to wear out in the snow.
Donations:
We are looking for donations of gloves and mittens as well as hats for 4th grade students. As the weather turns cold, we hope that all of our students will be able to dress appropriately for the winter.
