Week of Oct. 26-Oct. 30, 2015

Homework-Week of Oct. 26-30, 2015

Reading/Language Arts-Students read from their AR book for 20+ minutes. AR tests are to be taken from books read at night and at school. The second-quarter goal is 20 AR points by Dec. 18.
Writing-Students complete the day’s journal entry from the Oct. calendar located in the plastic sleeve of the blue home folder. I expect NEAT, legible, dated, complete work submitted on Friday.
Spelling-Students practice words to mastery. Here is the current list: unfair, unlock, unkind, unwrap, undo, unbutton, unafraid, refill, repay, rewrite.
*Math-The students will each have a math workbook (WB) to use at home, and will work at their own pace: There is no set number of pages to complete. Students may submit the WB on Fridays to be checked. WBs will be returned on Mondays. I encourage regularonline practice in TenMarks and Math Facts in aFlash. The workbook is for use when the Internet is not available and you desire your child to have additional or alternativemath practice. /

Celebrations!

I’m so proud of every student for reaching the first AR goal. As of this writing, the following students have already met, or exceeded, the SECONDgoal: Rebecca, Hobbs, Max, Annabelle, Graham, Reeve, Finley, Luke, Olivia W., and Aaliyah.
I am also thrilled to see the students writing more and more each day. Each step forward is progress and a celebration. The children are developing as authors and enjoying learning about the art and craft of writing.
These words from Donalyn Miller, educator/author, say it well: “Reading is the inhale, and writing is the exhale.”
