Summer Program 2013
Sample Summer Goals
Communication and/or Social SkillsWhen engaged in conversation, [Participant] will make eye contact with his/her peers at least 4 times per week.
[Participant] will improve his/her social skills by using respectful language, and by communicating and integrating with peers with minimal prompting 80% of the time throughout the summer.
[Participant] will practice polite conversation skills by independently using “Please” and “Thank you” at least once a day.
[Participant] will initiate a greeting at least twice per day using words, his/her aug-comm device, or signs.
[Participant] will independently initiate conversation with a peer at least 3 times a week
[Participant] will stay on topic when engaged in conversation with others, with a maximum of 2 prompts, at least once a day.
[Participant] will engage in reciprocal play with his/her peers during at least 3 activities per day
After receiving a verbal prompt, [Participant] will converse with a peer for one reciprocal exchange three times per day
[Participant] will improve his/her communication skills by initiating a conversation at least 3 times each week
[Participant] will answer questions using complete sentences (not one-word answers) at least 80% of the time
[Participant] will improve his/her communication skills by independently answering questions with 3-4 word responses at least 3 opportunities per week
When provided with verbal prompts, [Participant] will behave appropriately in public spaces (ie- stay with the group, no yelling, etc), at least 80% of the time.
[Participant] will participate in group activities (i.e. follow directions, take turns, remain engaged, etc.) for at least 5 minutes each day
[Participant] will participate in a group activity for a minimum of 5 minutes at least twice per day throughout the summer.
[Participant] will participate in group activities for at least 50% of the time at least once per day
[Participant] will practice taking turns for a minimum of 10 minutes at least once a day.
[Participant] will engage in turn-taking during conversation with his/her peers, and/or during group activities, 80% of the time
Transitions
[Participant] will improve on transitions by exhibiting appropriate behavior (i.e. standing in line, remaining quiet, remaining with the group, etc.)at least one time per day.
After receiving no more than 2 prompts, [Participant] will successfully transition between activities within 30-60 seconds
Independent Living Skills
[Participant] will put food into his/her mouth independently at least 3 times per week.
[Participant] will improve his/her independent living skills by verbally expressing needs (e.g. bathroom break, break from activity, hungry/thirsty)at least 3 times per week
[Participant] will correctly change out of his/her swimsuit and into clothes after only receiving verbal prompting
[Participant] will increase independence by opening a door with minimal assistance at least once per day.
Using only verbal or written cues, [Participant] will follow multi-step directions at least 3 times per week.
Health and Wellness
[Participant] will develop his/her gross motor skills and strength by participating in swimming with his/her peers at least once per day.
[Participant] will increase his/her level of physical activity by engaging in the selected activity (e.g. swimming, basketball, games, etc.) for at least 20 minutes per day.
After receiving no more than 2 prompts, [Participant] willwash hands after using the restroom
[Participant] will independently eat at least 50% of his/her lunch each day
