“Goblins on the doorstep, Phantoms in the air,
Owls on witches gateposts Giving stare for stare,
Cats on flying broomsticks, Bats against the moon,
Stirrings round of fate-cakes With a solemn spoon,
Whirling apple parings, Figures draped in sheets,
Dodging, disappearing, Up and down the streets,
Jack-o-lanterns grinning, Shadows on a screen,
Shrieks and starts with laughter
This is Halloween”

~Dorothy Brown Thompson~

OPEN on a black screen.

The sound of thunder claps over the darkness of night as we FADE IN on a large field, where a scarecrow hangs behind a wooden fence on a stake in the middle of a cornfield.

Lightning lights up the area, illuminating a jack-o-lantern, grinning wickedly at the foot of a mailbox as the flames dance wildly with the wind.

Leaves are blown past the scarecrow and jack-o-lantern and flip past a gravel driveway. PAN BACK as the scene grows and we see a farmhouse, decorated with black and orange streamers, along with a sheeted ghost hanging from a tree. The moon and stars shine down over the scene, casting a blue glow over the landscape.

A large barn with several haystacks in the loft is made out in the background, along with another cornfield behind it.

October 30, 2005

Wind chimes are heard going off by the porch swing, where TOMMY DOYLE stands, staring out into the dark sky with a troubled expression. His black hair blows with the wind, as his icy eyes seem transfixed on the stars above.

A woman, KARA DOYLE, walks out from the house, her long auburn hair being blown lightly back as she walks out next to TOMMY, a look of seriousness on her face.

TOMMY

Are the boys asleep?

KARA

I think they’re pretending to be. Danny’s pissed at us because he had a date with Christy Lane tomorrow night.

TOMMY

He knew better than to make plans for Halloween.

KARA

Maybe, but...maybe we’re being too hard on him. Maybe we need to move on with our lives and stop worrying. It’s been 10 years, Tommy. Michael Myers is not gonna find us.

TOMMY

Just like he didn’t find Laurie? Took him over 20 years to do that. Never underestimate him, Kara. Never let your guard down.

KARA looks sad and she reaches over and hugs TOMMY tightly. TOMMY wraps his arms around her, kissing her on the forehead, as he continues to stare up at the sky.

TOMMY

Come on. Let’s go to bed. We’ll worry about Michael Myers tomorrow.

KARA

Okay.

They both turn and walk inside as thunder claps and lightning strikes keep the night alive.

SHAPE’S POV

We are looking through two eyeholes at the farmhouse, sounds of muffled breathing heard coming from underneath the holes. We begin to walk towards the house.

INT. THE FARMHOUSE

TOMMY and KARA walk into the house, where DANNY STRODE, 16 and angry-looking, is standing in the kitchen with headphones strewn over his neck as he rummages through the refrigerator looking for something.

KARA

Danny, go to bed. You’ve got school tomorrow.

DANNY turns and glares at KARA with annoyance.

DANNY

Yeah, great. I can go to school, but I can’t go out on a date. Makes real sense.

KARA

Danny—

DANNY takes his head phones and throws them over his ears, cutting the volume on full-blast, ignoring KARA. He walks out of the kitchen, past TOMMY and KARA, and into his room, slamming the door behind him.

KARA looks annoyed as TOMMY shakes his head.

TOMMY

He can go out with her any other night. He’ll get over it.

KARA looks unsure as she shakes her head.

KARA

I’m gonna go check on Steven.

KARA exits as TOMMY sighs in frustration. Suddenly, the back door opens and wind blows through the kitchen. TOMMY turns as brown and yellow leaves come billowing into the house.

TOMMY walks over and frowns, looking out the door for any sign of movement. There is nothing but wind.

TOMMY takes a step outside. LIGHTNING lights up the sky.

EXT. THE FARMHOUSE-REAR ENTRANCE

TOMMY takes a step out onto the wooden porch and leans on a railing, seeing nothing in the field but another scarecrow’s form dangling in the air from the stake in the ground.

Behind TOMMY, THE SHAPE steps out, his pale, white mask visible through the moonlight. THE SHAPE looks briefly at TOMMY, turns, and walks into the house as TOMMY takes a step off of the porch and stares out at the darkness with confusion.

INT. THE HOUSE-STEVEN’S ROOM

KARA enters the darkened room and sees 10-year old STEVEN DOYLE cuddling underneath his sheets. STEVEN opens his eyes as some light shines down on him.

KARA smiles and walks over to his bed as STEVEN sits up.

STEVEN

What’s up, mom?

KARA

Just making sure my birthday boy is comfortable.

STEVEN

Yeah, I’m okay. What are you still doing up?

KARA

We’re about to go to bed. Have you had any more bad dreams?

STEVEN

About the pale-faced man? I try not to dream about him, but I can’t help it. I’m sorry, mom.

KARA

Don’t be sorry. It’s not your fault.

STEVEN

Who is the pale-faced man? Jason Klein says it’s the boogeyman that’s coming to get me on Halloween.

KARA

Jason Klein has failed the 3rd grade two times.

STEVEN

3rd grade is hard.

KARA

Of course it is, sweetheart. You want me to keep the monsters away?

STEVEN

Yeah. Tonight, I got a bad feeling about the monsters.

KARA half-smiles and kisses STEVEN on the forehead.

KARA

Okay. (looks around the room) Stay away monsters, stay away ghouls. Stay away from Steven, you jerks know the rules.

KARA listens and then there is silence. KARA smiles and pokes STEVEN in the belly.

KARA

See? The monsters are all gone.

STEVEN

Are you sure?

KARA

Positive. Night night, Steven.

STEVEN pulls the covers up to his chest as KARA turns and exits the room, shutting off the light. STEVEN looks over at his window, as crickets are heard chirping in the dark, storm-brewing night. He sighs and closes his eyes as the autumn wind blows through his room.

INT. THE KITCHEN

A drawer is opened and THE SHAPE’S hand reaches inside, pulling out a large butcher knife. THE SHAPE closes the door and turns. LIGHTNING EFFECT.

INT. THE LIVING ROOM

KARA enters the room, grabbing a fireplace lighter. She walks over to the windowsill and lights a candle in the dark room as the storm rages outside. The room brightens a tiny bit.

KARA moves down a little further and lights another candle. As the room brightens up, we see the form of the infamous pale, white mask slowly moving up behind KARA. THE SHAPE steps on a spot that causes a creak in the floor.

KARA turns her head.

KARA

Tommy?

THE SHAPE lunges forward, grabbing KARA and driving her back against the wall. THE SHAPE grips her throat before she can make a sound as KARA’S face becomes full of horror. She tries to breathe and struggle, but THE SHAPE pins her back against the wall, lifting her slowly into the air.

KARA’S feet leave the ground as THE SHAPE pulls back his right arm, brandishing the butcher knife. He lunges it forward into KARA’S chest. KARA’S eyes glaze over as THE SHAPE’S dark eyes stare into her face. KARA tries to call out as she reaches down and runs her hand along THE SHAPE’S mask.

KARA

(weakly)

Danny, run!

INT. DANNY’S ROOM

DANNY is bobbing his head to the song Never Gonna Stop by Rob Zombie on his Walkman while stretched out on his bed. He hears nothing from the other room.

EXT. THE FARMHOUSE

TOMMY stands in the field, looking up at the stars as thunder is downing out KARA’S cries. He has no reaction to even hearing KARA at all as he gazes up at the stormy weather in the sky.

INT. THE LIVING ROOM

The candles lightly illuminate the room as THE SHAPE takes a step back, releasing KARA. KARA hangs in mid-air, the knife protruding through her body and into the wall as blood runs down the length of her clothing. KARA’S eyes close for the last time as THE SHAPE tilts his head to the side in his typical insane manner.

INT. DANNY’S ROOM

DANNY finishes off his soda and looks annoyed that he has none left. He tosses the Coca-Cola can into the trash and gets up off the bed, opening his door and exiting.

INT. THE HALLWAY

DANNY walks down the hallway, still bobbing his head to the music. He even does a little spin move as he enters the kitchen/living room area.

As the Rob Zombie song hits the chorus, DANNY stops and stares ahead. He looks shocked as the candles illuminate KARA’S body hanging from the wall. LIGHTNING EFFECT.

DANNY’S face fills full of shock as his eyes widen. THE SHAPE emerges from the shadows, confronting DANNY head on, just staring at him with a blank stare. DANNY takes a step back as MICHAEL begins walking towards him. DANNY removes his earphones as the music blares over the scene.

DANNY

Michael.

THE SHAPE quickly grabs him, yanking off the headphones. DANNY swings with a right, but THE SHAPE deflects the blow, wrapping the wires from the Walkman around DANNY’S throat. DANNY swings come more, but THE SHAPE deflects those shots, too.

THE SHAPE bears down on DANNY, choking the life out of him as the music blares. DANNY falls slowly to his knees, his eyes bulging with horror as he gasps for air.

THE SHAPE yanks with fierce strength as DANNY’S eyes go blank and he stops struggling. THE SHAPE shoves DANNY’S dead body forward, thumping it to the ground. He turns towards STEVEN’S room.

INT. STEVEN’S ROOM

The door opens and THE SHAPE walks in, another butcher knife in hand. He walks slowly over to the bed and looks down at the small bundle under the covers.

STEVEN gazes up at THE SHAPE in fear as he pulls the sheets up to his face. STEVEN shivers as THE SHAPE raises the knife into the air. STEVEN yells in fear.

STEVEN

Tommy!

THE SHAPE’S head turns towards the window. The wind is blowing through the dark room, making STEVEN’S white curtains flap in the night.

EXT. THE FARMHOUSE

TOMMY is gazing up at the rain in thought when STEVEN’S voice fills the air, followed by a lightning strike.

STEVEN

(o/s)

The boogey man is here!

TOMMY’S head turns back towards the house. He immediately runs towards the house, not hesitating a second.

INT. STEVEN’S ROOM

THE SHAPE brings the knife down, causing STEVEN to dive from the bed onto the floor. THE SHAPE lunges once again with the knife at STEVEN, but STEVEN disappears underneath the bed to hide.

THE SHAPE reaches down and slashes around underneath the bed for STEVEN. When STEVEN tries to get out the other side, THE SHAPE gets onto the bed and slashes at him on the other side, causing STEVEN to get back underneath.

MICHAEL stands on top of the bed, waiting for STEVEN to make a move.

UNDER THE BED

STEVEN looks full of fear, tears streaming down his face. He starts to go out the right side, but THE SHAPE swings down with the knife, causing him to go back under the bed.

STEVEN is crying as he tries to go out the left side, but THE SHAPE is on it, swishing down at him with the butcher knife and causing him to retreat back under the bed.

INT. STEVEN’S ROOM

The door is thrown open and TOMMY comes charging in, immediately seeing THE SHAPE on the bed. THE SHAPE’S head turns towards him. TOMMY’S eyes fill with rage. LIGHTNING EFFECT.

TOMMY

You bastard...

TOMMY charges and leaps at THE SHAPE, tackling him at the waist. TOMMY and THE SHAPE fall from the bed and onto the bedside table, breaking it into pieces. The rain begins to beat down through the window as TOMMY grabs a piece of the table and nails THE SHAPE over the face with it, several times until THE SHAPE lays motionless.

STEVEN, eyes full of tears, comes out from under the bed as TOMMY turns and grabs STEVEN by the shoulders.

TOMMY

Steven, run!

TOMMY shoves STEVEN away as THE SHAPE sits up slowly, lunging for STEVEN and grabbing his shirt. TOMMY kicks THE SHAPE’S hands off of STEVEN as STEVEN disappears out the window with a scream into the rainy night.

THE SHAPE turns and grabs TOMMY by his throat, but TOMMY is ready for him and knocks his hands away, shoving THE SHAPE back against the wall. TOMMY’S and THE SHAPE’S eyes lock for a brief second as TOMMY’S head tilts to the side.

TOMMY

I knew you’d come back.

LIGHTNING EFFECT as THE SHAPE slashes at TOMMY with his knife, giving him a large gash over this chest. TOMMY cries out in pain as he staggers back, grabbing a clock radio off the table.

THE SHAPE stalks towards him as TOMMY belts THE SHAPE, breaking the clock radio over his head. TOMMY charges THE SHAPE once again, but THE SHAPE lunges the knife forward, jamming it into TOMMY’S gut.

Blood oozes from TOMMY’S mouth as THE SHAPE jams the knife further and methodically slashes upwards. TOMMY falls to the ground and looks up as the pale, white face of THE SHAPE looms over him.

LIGHTNING EFFECT

TOMMY stares into the dark eyes of THE SHAPE as he raises the knife.

TOMMY

You’ll never get Steven, Michael. You’ll never get Steven.

THE SHAPE jams the knife directly into TOMMY’S head, killing him instantly. TOMMY’S blank eyes stay open as he stares up at the ceiling.

THE SHAPE’S head turns towards the window. The wind is blowing through the dark room, making STEVEN’S white curtains flap in the night. LIGHTNING EFFECT.

EXT. A ROAD

STEVEN is riding a bicycle with fury down the dark road. He stops and glances back at his former home, silent in the rainy night.

STEVEN’S POV

Tears form in STEVEN’S eyes once again.

STEVEN turns and pedals away into the dark night as The Halloween Theme begins to play over the scene.

VOICES of past characters flow over the opening credits, summing up the Myers storyline as newspaper clippings of MICHAEL’S murders show up on the screen.

MRS. BLANKENSHIP

(Halloween 6)

A long, long time ago, it was a night of great power. When the days grew short and the spirits of the dead returned to their homes to warm themselves by the fireside. All across the land, huge bonfires were lit. Oh, there was a marvelous celebration. People danced and they played games and they dressed up in costumes, hoping to ward off the evil sprits, especially the boogey man.

DR. SAM LOOMIS

(Halloween)

I met him 15 years ago. I was told there was nothing left. No reason. No conscience. No understanding...in even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, of good or evil, right or wrong. I met this 6 year-old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and the blackest eyes. The devil’s eyes. I spent 8 years trying to reach him and then another 7 trying to keep him locked up because I realized that what was living behind that boy’s eyes was purely and simply...evil.

DR. TERENCE WYNN

(Halloween 6)

Evil. Pure. Uncorrupted. Ancient.

TOMMY DOYLE

(Halloween 6)

If there’s one thing I know, you can’t control evil. You can lock it up. You can burn in and bury it and pray that it dies, but it never will. It just rests a while. You can lock your doors and say your prayers at night, but the evil is out there. Waiting. And maybe, just maybe, it’s closer than you think.

LAURIE STRODE

(Halloween: H2O)

My brother killed my sister when she was 17.

MRS. BLANKENSHIP

(Halloween 6)

I was baby-sitting with him that night. Little Mikey Myers that lived across the street. And that’s when the voice came the night he murdered his sister. It told him to kill his family!

TOMMY DOYLE

(Halloween 6)

Among the ancient druids, Thorn represented a demon that spread sickness and brought death to hundreds of thousands of people. According to Celtic legend, one child from each tribe was chosen to be inflicted with the curse of Thorn to offer the blood sacrifices of its next of kin on the night of Samhain.
