The SDS takes pleasure in announcing that Maria Vega will be conducting a one day workshop in London.

The SDS workshop provides an ideal opportunity to capture the atmosphere of Spanish Dance in a friendly environment. Join us and experience a day of study with an expert teacher offering you the chance to develop your existing skills, increase your knowledge and create new opportunities. MARIA VEGA (FLAMENCO AND DANZA ESTILIZADA TECHNIQUE)

Maria Vega was born in Madrid where she studied Spanish dance and flamenco at the Royal Professional Conservatory. She continued her studies at the famous Amor de Dios studios under Merche Esmeralda, Blanca del Rey, Belen Maya, Lola Greco and Rafaela Carrasco. Her studies also included ballet and contemporary. Professionally she performed in the companies of LuisilloTeatro de la Danza; Nuevo Ballet Español with well-known directors Carlos Rodriguez and Ángel Rojas where she was a soloist; as a principal dancer she appeared in Antonio Najarro Spanish Dance Company (currently the director of the Ballet Nacional de España) and amongst others Carmen Cortés. Maria additionally has choreographed for many important events and her teaching has taken her to New York, Detroit, Paris and Lisbon. Currently she is teaching in London. The SDS would like to welcome her warmly to her third experience with the Society!

Non SDS members £40.00 per level

SDS subscribed members £35.00 per level

Watching fee £15.00 per level

Live musicians will accompany the classes.

LEVEL 1 Improvers Course (11 years and over): Participants should have some basic knowledge of Spanish Dance technique. Ideal for those participants wishing to strengthen their technique and style and secure their compás (SDS Segundo Año - Cuarto Año or up to 3 years of solid training).

LEVEL 2 Consolidation Course (Elementary/Lower Intermediate/Advanced): Participants should have a good technique, a fairly good knowledge of Spanish Dance, an understanding of the compás and be able to ‘pick up’ fairly easily. Ideal for those participants wishing to be challenged (SDS QuintoAño - TercerAñoEstudiante or 4-6 years solid training).

LUNCH

There is a small canteen at the studio. It is advisable to place your order before the classes commence. There are many shops, pubs and restaurants nearby.

ENROLMENT

To ensure enrolment and avoid disappointment it is advisable to book early, as space is limited. Kindly return the enclosed enrolment form together with a cheque made payable to the SPANISH DANCE SOCIETY by the 10th February 2015. No booking can be accepted without an enrolment form and cheque. Receipts will be given out on the first day. Should you require one beforehand or confirmation of the course, kindly send a self-addressed and stamped envelope with your enrolment form.

CANCELLATION

Once a place has been booked on the workshop no refunds will be given if the place is cancelled for any reasons other than illness. In the case of illness 10 % of the fee will be refunded upon production of a doctor’s certificate no later than 7 days after the course. No refund is available if anyone does not attend the course due to transport problems; if anyone is dissatisfied with the course; if anyone falls ill or is injured during the course. Once a place has been booked it is not transferable to another person.

ACCOMMODATION

Most accommodation will involve either a journey by train or tube. It is advisable to book early.

Kindly note: The recording or taking of videos of the course is strictly prohibited. A fee will be charged if anyone attempts to do so.
