Space Mission Research Project

Introduction:

Much of what we know about our own solar system, galaxy, and the universe beyond can be credited to our ability to engineer specialize space probes to travel into the unknown and relay back information to Earth. Essentially for the last half century humans have been building sophisticated “space robots” and launching them towards various objects. This is not only quite the feat of engineering in itself, but has also opened our eyes to information undreamed of in the past.

Task:

You will be assigned one of the many space missions described above, and you and a partner will be required to teach the class about it. Your final product will be a presentation of some form (PowerPoint, Prezi, Google Slides, a video, etc.) You may choose the platform through which you present. ***Note: Anybody presenting a video will need to include a full script to turn in.

Your Presentation must include:

  1. The name of your mission
  2. The organization that was in charge of it (Who built it/launched it etc.)
  3. The goals of the mission (What were they hoping for pre-launch?)
  4. Often times we find out much more (or less) than we were hoping for)
  5. The scope/duration of the mission
  6. How long was did it remain in communication? (1 year? 20 yeas?)
  7. Did it work?
  8. The findings of the mission (What did humans learn because of your mission)
  9. Plenty of visuals!!!!
  10. A picture of the probe/robot/rover sent into space
  11. Pictures taken by the probe/robot/rover sent into space
  12. Sources Cited!!!!! (You must have at least 3 sources cited)
  13. You can use easybib.com (MLA is fine)
