Sp Image Uploader v1.3– Guide v2

1. Purpose

The Sp Image Uploader is designed to allow you to upload images (and some other supported file types) from a folder on your computer to the Sp Image Server. It assumes that you keep a copy of the complete Image Library on your computer, in a local library, and then this library is kept in sync with the Sp Image Server. It allows you to compare the local library with that on the Image Server and also to initialize a syncing operation.

2. Install and Run

If you have previously installed an earlier version of the Sp Image Uploader this should be uninstalled first. To install this version, double-click on the supplied setup.exe file. Once installed, there should be an icon for the Sp Image Uploader on your desktop.

3. Connect to the Image Server

When the application is run enter the details:

Image Server address:

Client ID: **

Username: **

Password: **

**These details will be supplied to you by Spatialest.

Note:

Each subsequent time you run the application it will have remembered these details. The password will only be remembered if you check the “Remember” checkbox beside the password box.

4. Select Local Image Library

Click on the indicated button to select the folder containing your (copy of the) Image Library:

At 1, select the Image Library folder on your computer.

At 2, the subfolders of the image library will be shown. You can select any folder here.

At 3, the images and subfolders of the selected folder will be shown.

At 4, the images and subfolders (if any) of the corresponding folder on the Image Server are shown.

The folders and files that you previously uploaded should be displayed under “Images on Image Server”

5. Synchronize

Sync

This function determines which files need to be uploaded to the Image Server and uploads them. This function may take many hours when the complete image library is being uploaded for the first time. Since this is only a test version of the application, you may want to use the test mode option which stops after 100 files or else to cancel the operation after a certain amount of time.

Options

-Compare only: No uploading or deleting of files is carried out. A comparison of local files and files on the Image Server is carried out and the resulting counts are displayed.
Note: Even when you Sync without the “Compare only” option, a comparison is carried out so that only new or updated image files are uploaded.

-Sync subfolders: If this is checked, subfolders of the selected folder are also compared and synchronized

-Delete files not in my folder(s): If this is checked, when a sync operation is carried out, image files on the Image Server which are not on your own computer are deleted. This option can only be selected when “Sync selected files only” is not selected.

-Selected files only: If this is checked, comparing or syncing only applies to files selected in the “Images in selected folder” box. This option can only be selected when “Sync subfolders” option is not selected.

6. View your Images on the Sp Image Server directly

In order to confirm the folders and image files on the Sp Image Server, you can log into it directly at:
