Hours:20 hours per week; flexible schedule--evening and weekend hours occasionally required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Development Coordinator will be coordinating development tasks under the remote direction of the Development Director, while the Development Director is living abroad. The Development Department is responsible for individual giving programs, marketing and general public growth of the organization. Tasks will range from data entry to small event coordination to dealing with media and more, partnering closely with the Development Director to minimize the disruption of current development activities and growth trajectory.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong experience working in a multicultural setting.
  • Proven effective written and verbal communication.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse economic, educational and cultural and other backgrounds.
  • Understanding of, strong commitment to and ability to communicate values of SW Youth and Family Services, including social and racial equity and family support principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral part of the team.
  • Proven ability to maintain positive communication among staff members.
  • At least 1 year of applicable nonprofit development experience preferred.
  • Database and MS Office proficiency.
  • Experience in public and group speaking.
  • Valid Washington driver’s license and proof of auto insurance; access to reliable transportation required.
  • Permit and pass a criminal and professional background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate donor database.
  • Send all donor acknowledgment letters within 2 business days of receipt of gift.
  • Coordinate final steps of mailing of all end of the year donation letters.
  • Coordinate all stewardship and cultivation activities in order to retain current individual and corporate donors.
  • Manage in-kind donation process including solicitations, gifts received and acknowledgements.
  • Maintain tabling supplies and coordinate any needs for display materials and staff in the community.
  • Coordinate all logistics and marketing needs for quarterly community conversation events in February and May.
  • Coordinate logistics of Jeffersonian dinner event in spring.
  • Coordinate any logistics of board hosted donor parties as needed.
  • Coordinate GiveBIG online fundraising campaign.
  • Coordinate social media efforts.
  • Create and send any press releases or communication.
  • Uphold and demonstrate Southwest Youth and Family Services values, particularly in the areas of social and racial equity, and inter-program and staff communication.
  • Maintain positive communication with all agency staff and volunteers.
  • Inform and educate the community about Southwest Youth and Family Services and programs and activities.
  • Attend all agency wide staff meetings, attend agency Open Space or social equity discussion meetings whenever possible.
  • Other tasks or projects as assigned by Development Director.
