SOUTHCOAST CHILDREN’S THEATRE, INC. FALL WORKSHOP 2014

Objective:A 10 week course program provides its participants with an instructional atmosphere as it relates to the Performing Arts. This is a tuition based program which will garner those members who show a serious desire in expanding their theatrical education. Each class is designed to be age specific and will provide the student with a deeper understanding of the Art of Performance. It will also prepare the young actor for an audition, emphasizing how to present oneself in a confident and positive manner, preparing them for future SCCT productions and/or other external productions.

Classes are to be held at the SCCT Studio, Purchase Street New Bedford.

Classes are filled on a first come first served basis.

Scheduled dates: September 13, 2014 through November 22, 2014. With the November 22nd date as the performance date. NO CLASSES ON COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND.

Classes to be offered:

Introduction To Acting One: Open to Grades 1-39-10:30 a.m.

Introduction To Musical: Open to Grades 3-610:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Musical Workshop:Open to Grades 6-812:30-2:00 p.m.

Fee:$75.00 per student

(The class on the 22nd will be performance oriented for parents and family of studentsand is by invitation only.)

Introduction To Acting One:Open to students in grades 1-3. An introductory class for beginning students to explore the basics of acting, improvisation, theatre terminology and role playing. Students will focus on new ways to use their voice and body as they learn techniques for the stage. Even if you have been on stage before, this class will enlighten and expand the participants acting ability on stage. The end result will be a workshop production of the play “The Lost Christmas Cards”.

Introduction To The Musical: Open to students in grades 3-6. Primarily for those who have taken Introduction To Acting One, but open to others. This class picks up where Introduction To Acting Oneleaves off. Now that Performing Arts basics have been taught, this class will focus on presenting a One Act play. Auditions will be conducted and rehearsals will take place in the class. A review of theatrical terms and character development will be reinforced. This workshop will explore the Disney sensation “FROZEN” in depth The end result will be a workshop presentation.

The Musical Workshop: Open to students in grades 4-8or has completed Introduction to Acting and Introduction To The Musical or has performed in a musicalproduction with SCCT or elsewhere. This workshop will explore and study the Disney sensation “FROZEN”in depth, allowing the young actor to hone their musical and acting talents as they prepare to move on from Middle School to High School Drama Clubs, or independent Community Theatres. The end result will be a workshop presentation.
