South West Peninsula Federation of Rugby Referees Societies
Referee Exchange USA 2015
Expressions of interest are invited from members of the Cornwall, Devon and Plymouth Rugby Referees Societies who would like to opportunity to tour the USA in September 2015. The exchange is hosted by The Eastern Rockies Rugby Referees Society and most of the successful applicant’s time will be spend in or around Denver Colorado. Rugby matches will take place over two weekends with the final weekend being the prestigious Ruggerfest Tournament in Aspen, high in the Rocky Mountains. The exchange is self funding although the Federation may be able to make a donation toward travel expenses (flights etc). You will be hosted by a referee in the USA and travel in the USA and accommodation at events is paid for by the host society
Applications are especially welcome from referees looking to develop their grading from Level 10 to 7, although other grades are welcome to apply. Also invited to apply are referees who are considering the next steps in their refereeing carer from refereeing into coaching and advising. Advisors and coaches are also welcome to apply although preference will given to active referees. There will be refereeing and assistant refereeing assignments and the successful applicants will be required to assist in the coaching of other referees during the tournament.
The successful applicants
· Must be available to travel between 10th and 22nd September 2015
· Have a valid passport and current USA visa waiver
· Will be expected to arrange and pay for their own transport to the USA
· Be available to host returning tourists from the USA during the 2015 / 16 season (normally October / November)
· Be a member of Cornwall, Devon or Plymouth RRS
Note. Due to the ‘social’ nature of the exchange and the welcoming hospitality of the American hosts applicants MUST be over the age of 21 to make the most of the opportunity.
