Math 7 w/ Ms. Moreno
Math is EVERYWHERE! The goal of this class is to teach students how to make the connection between math and problem solving in the “real world”.
GRADING POLICY:
Homework/classwork/project 30% Math Notebook 5%
Quiz 25% Test 40%
TOPICS OF STUDY:
Topics as related to the California Mathematics Standards include integers, solving multi-step equations with variables, problem solving, ratio/proportion/percent, real numbers, geometry and algebra.
HOMEWORK POLICY:
Homework will be assigned as needed to practice math concepts. Usually, homework will be given 4-5 times a week. If a student is absent, it is his or her responsibility to check the assignment calendar for missed work. Homework is checked each day for proper completion of the assignment. All homework must be done in pencil and all work must be shown. Work in pen will not be accepted. Students can expect to see homework problems on quizzes and tests. There will usually be a quiz or test every week.
*****Note: Tests and quizzes will not be released to take home.
BEHAVIOR POLICY:
Good citizenship and positive behavior are expected. Any behavior that interferes with the teaching and learning of math in our class is not acceptable and will result in appropriate consequences.
SUGGESTED SUPPLIES:
Large spiral notebooks, lined paper, graph paper, pencils, erasers, low odor dry erase marker, correcting pen (red or green is preferable), and a scientific calculator.
Parents, you can help. Take time to question your child. Get involved in projects. Check homework. Use parent portal to monitor your child’s grades throughout the year (https://parents.wvusd.k12.ca.us/aeries.net/). Encourage your child and communicate with the teachers.
