Soroptimists condemn the shooting of Malala Yousafzai

Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland, the global women’s organisation, condemns the shooting of Malala Yousafzai and 2 other school girls from the SWAT area of Pakistan.

Soroptimists from all over the world are horrified by the barbaric actions of the Taliban to stop girls receiving an education. Soroptimist International actively supports and campaigns for education world wide.

•Condemn the unwarranted shooting of the brave young education campaigner Malala Yousafzai and 2 other school girls in Pakistan by the Taliban because they wished to continue their education.

•Confirm the commitment of Soroptimism to the achievement of the UN Millennium Development goals particularly as they relate to the education of girls worldwide.

•Call on all Governments to press the Pakistan Government to bring the perpetrators to justice and to protect the rights of girls to access to full secondary education unmolested.
