1PARENTS’ EVENING – WEDNESDAY 20th APRIL 2016

In book bags on Thursday afternoon we sent home letters regarding your child’s Parents Evening.

It is being held on Wednesday 20th April 2016 between 3.15pm – 7.00pm. Please accept our apologies for this change in date again; you will notice we have reverted back to the original date!

Please indicate on the reply slip your preferred time(s) and we will do our best to accommodate you. Please return the slip to school by next Monday 21st March 2016 at the latest to enable us to put a timetable together. Popular times will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

2WAITROSE GREEN TOKENS

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of you for supporting Walter Powell School in the green token scheme in Waitrose, Malmesbury during the month of February – we were rewarded with a cheque for £202.00.

3CHURCH ROOF FUND SPONSORED RUN

Since the figure was announced in last week’s newsletter, I was given some more sponsorship money and I am delighted to announce thatyou have raised an incredible £921.50 + £168.88 (Gift Aid) = £1090.38 in total!! THANK YOU AND WELL DONE!

4RESPONSIBLE INTERNET USE

We are still waiting for several‘Responsible Internet Use’ forms to be returned to the school office; Please can you and your child sign the form and return it to the school office before next Monday21stMarch at the very latest to ensure that your child can continue to use the computer during their school day.

If you have mislaid the form, please request another one from the school office.

5EASTER CRAFT ACTIVITY

Thank you very much to all the children who have been very busy decorating either a wooden or plastic shaped egg in preparation for our Easter Tree display in the village church.

If your child would like to have their egg on display in church, please ensure it is returned to the school office on Monday 21st March 2016 at the latest.

6PALM CROSSES

On Wednesday the children were taught about how to make their own Palm Crosses in a Christian Workshop led by some local parishioners.

7SNAILS

Our two giant African land snails are looking for a home over the Easter holidays; they really are not too much trouble (just a daily spray of water and some yummy cucumber to nibble on!). If you are able to look after them please contact the school office.

8EASTER CHURCH SERVICE

We are looking forward to seeing as many parents, grandparents and siblings at our Easter Church Service nextThursday24th March at 11.00am. The children have been rehearsing their little performances and are always delighted to see a friendly face in the church.

9SHASA QUIZ NIGHT

Please save the date in your diaries for the SHASA Quiz Night that will be held in the school hall on Saturday 23rd April 2016 in the evening, 6.45pm arrival for a 7.00pm start!Tickets will be priced at £7.50 per person and you can have a maximum of 6 persons in a team.

Your ticket price will include a homemade chilli supper with desserts available to purchase on the night! There will be a licenced bar and a raffle too!Tickets will be on sale after the Easter holiday!

10PRE-SCHOOL ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT – 25th MARCH – 13th APRIL 2016

Walter Powell Pre-school will be launching their annual Easter egg hunt next Thursday 24th March 2016 with a cake stall after school. The Easter egg hunt will be running from 25th March – 13th April and the trail takes you on a lovely walk around Great Somerford. Entry forms can be purchased for £3.00 from the cake stall on the 24th March or at Fourway Stores, Great Somerford during the holidays. If you are able to make a donation of home baked or bought cake for the stall they would be very grateful. Please leave any donations either at pre-school or the school office. Thank you.

11GRASSROOTS AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

In book bags yesterday your child received a booking form for the Grassroots afterschool clubsnext term. Please note that next term’s clubs are as follows:

Monday – Football Club

Tuesday – Gymnastics Club

Wednesday - No Club

Thursday – Tri-Golf

Friday – Summer sports

All clubs will commence the second week back after Easter. Please remember to complete and return with payment before your child attends the club.

12SAINSBURY’S ACTIVE KIDS VOUCHERS

It’s that time of year again when you can start collecting the Active Kids vouchers when you shop at Sainsbury’s. Please ask your friends, family and neighbours to collect the vouchers too and your child can post them into the special box in reception. You can receive vouchers in Sainsbury’s between 27th January and 3rd May 2016 and dependent on how many vouchers we collect we will be able to buy some more sporting or cookery equipment for our school.
