Some General Information About Scorpion Tackle Football for the 2018 Season:
Registration Cost: $170 which includes Custom Game Jersey with player's last name on back and one FREE Ticket for the Saturday, November 10th College Football Game ASU vs. UCLA. Parents will need to purchase their own tickets. We offer a discount to multi-child sign ups. Player's division based on age as of July 31st.
There is an additional Equipment rental fee of $40 (non refundable) for Helmet and shoulder pads unless the player has their own equipment. The fee is still the same if a player has shoulder pads and needs helmet or vice versa. The fee needs to be paid at time of equipment fittings before equipment can be taken. ALL HELMETS have been recertified this year.
Parents are responsible for : Football cleats (required), mouth guard (required), full lower football girdle (required), Black game pants (required), practice pants, socks (Color will be determined by Coach), football gloves (optional), and anything else a player may want.
Uniform Colors this year are changing to WHITE, GOLD and BLACK., no more lime green.
We are playing in a UNWEIGHTED AYF League this year. This means players are playing with their own age group. If you want your players moved up then you need to let us know under a special request during registration. A waiver will also need to filled out. The league we are participating in is big on academics so those who maintain a certain grade point average during the season will be recognized at the end of the season at a Academic Banquet in Tempe.
LAST DAY to Register is JULY 27th and for registration REFUNDS.
The first day of practice is MONDAY, JULY 23rd at CarrMcNatt Park. Practice will be Monday thru Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm for 4 weeks (Maximum of 10 hours a week including Round Robins). This may seem like a lot but those who have not played football this is part of football conditioning. It allows the players to acclimate to the weather and work into each piece of equipment. Plus they are the guidelines we have to follow. Each piece of equipment must be practiced in so many hours before moving onto the next.
SPORT PHYSICALS will need to be done by the first day of practice and physical forms turned into TEAM MANAGER. The team manager will also collect the REGISTRATION FORMs that were included in the registration packet attached to the email you received once you register at PHYSICAL FORMS can be found under the COACHES CORNER TAB on our cgyfl website if you need one.
AUGUST 20th Week : we will begin 3 days a week practice. Our days will be TUESDAYS, THURSDAYS and FRIDAYS at CarrMcNatt Park from 6-8pm. (Fridays 9/7, 9/14 and 10/12 will be at different location, TBD)
WE area looking at playing our games at Vista Grande High School. Our FIRST GAME is AUGUST 25th. We should know by August 4th, WHO WE PLAY not WHEN. This is the day the draw will be done. Our game schedule is suppose to come out the following week. Championship games are being played November 11th thru 18th.
We will be having additional in person registrations to help with on line registration as well as fittings in the next few weeks.
Our MEET THE COACHES NIGHT and FUNDRAISER will be Saturday, July 21st at Buffalo Wild Wings from 1-4pm. Food and some fun family activities and meeting the Coaches. 15% of Food tickets being donated to our league.
Saturday, July 28th there will be a FREE Football Clinic at ASU for our registered players. More information to come on the time and registration details.
